@fordnation Doug, I think you need to visit the steel fabrication and design shops in Ontario and ask them if products are available.
You will quickly find out that steel mills are supplying the USA ahead of Canada as it’s more lucrative for them.

Canada does not mine bauxite (the primary ore needed for aluminum) and relies on imports for it.
Aluminum metal is not found pure in nature. It is produced from bauxite ore.
Canada has no domestic bauxite mines.
Canada exports roughly 2.4–2.75 million metric tonnes of primary (unwrought) aluminum to the United States in recent years, making the U.S. by far its dominant market.
Canada’s strength is in energy-efficient smelting and refining of imported materials into high-quality primary aluminum, not in mining the initial ore.

Doing this would be attack on the US infrastructure and could or would trigger the use of military force by the US to restore that system.

Canada provides 62% of the oil imports into the USA yet Americans pay on average less per litre than Canadians at the pumps.
If we have the resources why do we pay more?

Canada would have no chance as our military is not equipped to defend its own border
