Oh Freda.. I think we all want the same for Mo.. and Mo l think you have disconnected from reality until your mind, body and spirit get a chance to heal. It is a survival technique your body and mind throws you into to help you get through trauma. A safety mechanism of sorts and is nothing to fear - be grateful it is there.
Your beautifully scripted words painted a vivid picture of times gone by when I felt the same. Yes it was unexpected shock and a total disbelief of what I was seeing and hearing that led me to feel as if I was devoid of emotion, watching life around me as if I was watching a movie. There was no feeling, no emotion, nothing I could express. Life was happening around me but I was just an onlooker, not a participant. Sure there were times with people I'd talk and laugh but it meant nothing, the talk and laugh were empty.
With the absolute unbelievable horror you are in the middle of -dissociation isn't surprising considering what you have seen, the sounds you have heard, witnessing death, injuries and pain that are so far removed from everyday life ..but unavoidable at El-Shifa and amongst the people and things you live and love. Being in any sort of dissociative state is not a pleasant place to be but it is keeping your mind safe .. and it will end when the time is right.
Don't fight it - try not to be scared of it or worried by it - just go with it, knowing it is a temporary thing, it is there for your protection and will pass.
In the meantime gently bring yourself back to reality just briefly to help heal yourself. Perhaps start a group for similarly minded affected people
To be honest, when I heard about some of the techniques used I thought it was the biggest load of psychological claptrap I had ever heard. It is not - I still use those techniques learned long ago when dealing with challenges or the curly bits life brings.
Remember we were talking about the peace you find alone with your rescue kitties. Take the time out to look at their fur - note the different colours in their coats, touch and feel the different textures of their coats, listen to the different noises they each make -compare a deep purr to a miaow. Smell their fur -is it the same or different? The idea is to try and stay present with your mindfulness of the kitties. Other thoughts may intrude - thats normal.. just go back to what you were doing mindfully.
The idea is to engage all 5 senses - touch, taste, smell, sight and sound. It sounds as if you will be travelling soon and there may not be kitties with you - try it on food - that's a good one. I remember the surprise of 'mindfully' eating a raisin - looking at it first and describing it, the difference of the smooth waxy surface look and feel in my fingers and in my mouth. . The squelch when you finally bite down on it - any food will do.... Or water.
Ground yourself - bare feet in the dirt/sand/grass/mud - look, listen, feel the ground and your feet- tis a great way to re-connect and realise you are part of nature and the planet.
Then there are 'tip' skills - start with a warm shower, finish with a cold. I use that one alot -it sets off a 'shock' response that can entirely alter mood or change a pesky thought course.
Breathing- there is a count.. but for me .. slowly in for 3 thru nose, hold for 2-3 in lungs, breath out thru the mouth for a slow 3 - add to it- feel the movement of air and the temperature as it moves in/out nose, trachea, lungs and mouth. That will do for now but a successful mindfulness session gives your brain the feeling of having had a much needed mini holiday and a relaxed and relieved feel you had thought long gone. Good luck Mo..I hope this helps - so many of us are with you in spirit as you travel, and look forward to a safe return home xo

but Emma I wonder if Jon might wanna skip over in Dec .. seems his fave time for an Awstraya trip .wotcha think @jonbonjovi@BonJovi .. If not.. hope there will be another time when times sync better but wishing everyone in @BonJovi the absolute best for ForEver Tour. Jon's perseverance, determination, attitude and love of what he and all of you bring to so many is more than evident with all he went thru to get those vocal chords sorted.. 'Admiration' for what you have done doesn't even come close.. Jons contagious inspiration for me began with KTF reunion and continues to grow.. Will be seeing you either in person .. or 2nd choice YT.. or how bowt a live stream ??? Like in de good ole days.. wotcha think?
well lykes wot I sed .. you need to come down to Awstraya OR send #JoviJet ober fer me to get to NJ (and meet up with old Jovi friends sinces the BSWBJ chat room days 2009 ) or Scotland, both are planned as being one trip and am havin trouble using my @Qantas FF trip points in business - either there ain't none .. so am a bit stuck but tis time to realise #ItsMyLife n waiting for #AMiracle to make the trip happen.. and they do .. tis in @jonbonjovi sayings ..'Miracles happen everyday, change your perception of what a miracle is and you'll see them all around you.' cr JonBonJovi
and of course 'Believe in love. Believe in magic. Hell, believe in Santa Clause. Believe in others. Believe in yourself. Believe in your dreams. If you don't, who will?' cr Jon Bon Jovi
and so many more inspirational quotes if you wanna search for Jon Bon Jovi sayings .. thaz why NBTF was ye olde Backstage Jovi chat room sign in .. that REALLY resonated

Currumbin on the Gold Coast holds Awstraya's best known ceremony as far as I know .. take a look if you want to know more - tis long but again very touching with Elephant Rock lit in blood red. Especially the tale told at 49.49 and the traditional parts of the ceremony starting around 1.11 https://t.co/snQZsahte6
103-year-old WWII veteran Arthur Leggett recites the Ode of Remembrance ... https://t.co/N3UoIoAtjD via @YouTube Blessed Be on Athur Leggett.. It was Anzac Day yesterday in Awstraya and I went to my first dawn service .. I have watched many a dawn service on TV but never wanted to brave the cold that seems to really hit hard on Anzac Day Dawn. It was an incredibly emotional day.. It was very impawtent to my Dad.. he'd go off to the RSL club (alone as he wanted) to chat with other returned vets WWII, Vietnam and all others wars Aussies were involved in even though he was in The British Army for WWII.. War had a profound effect on him that he passed on down. I'm unsure if any of the original ANZACS (=Australia and New Zealand Army Corps) were at his local to have a few beers and play two up but there was always an outporuring of Oz war vets from far too many wars, He must have been sitting on my shoulder for a chat thru the veil the night b4, coz I went into a mad scramble to see what was on locally.. Right here in the village was the most amazingly touching ceremony - starting with the lowering of the flag (dawn service), The Prayer of Remembrance, The Ode, The Last Post, a minutes silence,The Reveille, National Anthem .. then a typical Aussie Anzac Day lunch later (a sausage sizzle) - with the raising of the flag, followed by the traditional game of Two Up (my Dad would NEVER miss his beer with boys made up of returned veterans from ALL wars - UK, Aussie, and NZ vets in particular -in honour of those that returned and those that lost their lives ... Perhaps because the world is in the situation we find ourselves in now - and world peace POSSIBLY at risk there was a hugest ever turnout at ceremonies Oz wide yesterday. So, I'd like to do a call for world peace (sounds like Sandra Bullock in Miss Congeniality..lolol).. Seriously tho .. CaraCat is doing a @MrWuggums n purring for world peace, an end to bloodshed, injury, illness, violence, unrest and all the horrors of war. We CAN do this ..lubs @CaraAndNBTF. 'Lest we forget' is cetainly a thankyou and a sign of repect to those we have lost or those who fought and returned but to me it is also says 'Lets learn from this .. and never let it happen again!
