Today marked the dawn of a new era for AFC Stockport, and Nicola Gray’s side came agonisingly close to christening it with a victory against Chadderton Cott. The wait for our first official win goes on, but there was no shortage of talking points.

AFC Stockport started brightly. The breakthrough arrived through Ellis Patterson, who reacted sharply when a corner was only half-cleared. Composed as you like, he steadied himself and whipped a stunning effort into the top corner.

Moments later, Felix produced a fine footballing moment. Picked out on the edge of the box, he took one touch, set himself, and absolutely smashed it into the top corner!

After the restart, Stockport looked the stronger footballing side. The ball stayed on the deck, the passing sharpened, and chance after chance rolled in. On another day, with a touch more ruthlessness, the game would’ve been put to bed.

Truth is, we were the better footballing team, and with the amount of second‑half chances, you’d argue we should have won it. But if this is the foundation of the Nicola Gray era, the first win isn’t far away!

An inconsistent start to the season might have just ROARED into life with a huge win against the title contenders! 🦁

Our LIONESSES travelled to @LeighGenesisJnr and made it a league double with an impressive 1-0 away win with a bare 11. Credit to Cara and her team taking all the three points in the @GMWFL2011

Our LIONESSES revenged the cup defeat a few weeks earlier to @LeighGenesisJnr with a convincing 4-1 victory today. Leighs keeper by far the star of the show with some excellent saves.
Rebecca Flynn and Lynne Grainger both hit two each as our LIONESSES grabbed all 3 points.

Our LIONESSES fought hard to get back in the game but ran out of time against @HindleyTown Ladies. Trailing 3-0 and totally out of the game, it looked over but Cara Wild grabbed two back in the 89th and 96th minute.A tense finish to the game, sadly AFC couldn't get the leveller. 3-2 win for Hndley.

Other than hitting the back of the net more, our LIONESSES put in a solid performance against @buryfcofficial Womens Development Team. After being knocked out of the cup 3-1 against the same opposition two weeks ago, our LIONESSES pushed and pushed and played most of the game in Burys half. Despite our LIONESSES dominating most of the game, Bury lead 2-1 after a blistering opening 15 minutes which they scored their 2 goals in. AFC finally got their rewards equalising in the dying seconds to grab a point. A much better performance from our LIONESSES....now to push on for the rest of the season. Our goals came from Lynne Grainger and Dani Hancock.

Our WARRIORS move off the foot of the table with their first win of the season. The Lionesses manager Cara Wild stepped in to manage the game after the departure last weekend of Mike Walsh. Despite going down early doors, Liam James scored twice to put our WARRIORS infront ahead of the break. South Manchester equalised with 8 minutes to go, however captain Mike Jones scored the vital goal to win the game 3-2 on 88 minutes. Finally, the first win of the campaign for our WARRIORS.

Our LIONESSES grabbed all 3 points with a good 4-1 win over @withywomenfc . Despite falling behind after just 4 minutes the LIONESSES brushed themselves off and attacked their opponents time and time again. Abby Orford netted twice but it was Rebecca Flynn who also scored, who won our Player of the Match.
