A coworker left a job she loved because her commute was three hours round trip. She asked about remote work twice. Both times she was told leadership valued in person collaboration. Six months after she left they went fully remote. She found out on LinkedIn.
It is important to resist the commodification of basic human needs. Food, water and healthcare cannot be subordinated to market considerations or geopolitical interests. Access to adequate food is a fundamental human right grounded in the dignity of every person. Meeting this need not only alleviates suffering but also addresses underlying causes of geopolitical instability. Indeed, food security is an essential component of global and integral security. https://t.co/DgkM9RegJ7
Amazing what our players are like when they are freed from Slotball✅
This World Cup has been catastrophic for Slot reputation🤭
And some wanted to give him another season😂
If I tell you the full story, you'll shed tears.
I lived in several Igbo communities where these things were common. The men usually did not interfere because their wives could start denying them sex or food or start spreading rumours that the men were lusting after the maids.
In school, in church, everywhere, we knew people's maids because they were usually worse dressed and had new scars every 2 days.
This was in the 90s during my childhood. What you see in the media this 2026 is child's play. 99% of such events are never reported. Now, I can say that this is cultural and learned from generation to generation, because the daughters of those evil couples from my childhood learned how to maltreat maids from their moms while sons learned how to look away for peace to reign. Those children are today's adults doing to younger children what they learned from their parents.
As somebody who spent 20+ years in Kano, Kaduna, Plateau, Benue and Kogi, I'm afraid to say that I've never seen this kind of thing happen anywhere else apart from the South East (and the South West in Igbo communities). Something has to change. We can't go on like this forever.
If rumours are to be believed I'll be living with a seventh different Prime Minister shortly. If it carries on like this I'm going to stop making the effort to learn their names.
