Pour one out tonight for this poor guys Roman Reigns Super PC. Another guy looks like he graded his whole Charlie Chaplin photograph collection. Those people spent years collecting those things. Insurance can never replace that and PSA is going to low ball them. Sorry fellas.
@indycarcards Thanks! It was one of the key mid-priced ones I needed for my NBA at 50 autos. Bird sticker autos are plentiful but I was really trying to find a nice on-card auto that wasn't $400+. This one checked all the checkboxes and I actually paid under my target price.
If you ask people what they want, they will say they want more hits in products and less "junk."
Then they will complain that the hits are junk because they aren't worth as much as the hits in the premium products.
All while other collectors on lower budgets quietly scoop them up for their PCs.
@WatchTheBreaks I genuinely expect this to happen with Bennie Babies. We've already seen spikes for 90's card sets that are plentiful and had relatively low interest for decades. Beanie Babies are way more nostalgic for millennials.
Just needs the right influencer to pump them and create FOMO.
The craziest part to me is that every time one of these videos gets posted, there are people in the comments defending it like it's normal, always has been this way, and the person that posted it is just a hater.
The market has signaled that they care more about the market value of the card than a fast and accurate grade. We see this at shows where non-PSA booths have no line and lower prices while PSA's line is wrapped around the room.
That doesn't mean there shouldn't be options. It's just not where people are voting with their wallets.
Imagine walking into your local card shop, sliding a raw Michael Jordan into a machine, and walking out 5 minutes later with a freshly graded and slabbed card.
No shipping.
No 3-month wait.
No hoping PSA doesn’t ding it or get it stolen!
No human emotion or thought involved
Just: insert card → choose slab style → pay → AI grades it under perfect lighting → sealed slab pops out.
I have a feeling this will be the new norm so just imagine all the possibilities and so much less security issue with shipping!
@RLRottman PSA will at least pay out what they committed too. I'm sure some people will be unhappy with the amounts.
I'm curious what will happen if the cards do get recovered and PSA has paid out per their terms. Do the cards then belong to PSA?
@ThoseBackPages Probably not for the people that put genuine time and effort into hunting down PC cards. Others will be outraged publicly but privately thrilled that they got instant liquidity.
@GergelyOrosz SEO outreach has become AEO/GEO outreach. It constantly gets recommended as a tactic by agencies and "experts" but I don't know a single person that received one of these emails and viewed it favorably.
