See you tomorrow at the WASSA workshop! 👋
I will be talking about social media from an interdisciplinary perspective, and lessons learned on how we NLP'ers can contribute to other disciplines (e.g. social sciences) more effectively.
Can RAG amplifies social bias and which component affects the most?
@Tianhui will present our work on 27th March (Friday) from 9:00-10:30 in the Safety, Alignment and Prompt-Induced Risk oral session. He is also on the job market. Come to chat with him 🚀

On Thursday, we had the pleasure of hosting @davendw , who presented his work on "Efficient LLMs on the Edge" at our Cardiff #NLProc seminar. Thank you for visiting us!
Retrieval Augmentation (RAG) is great for injecting knowledge that was not available to an LLM during its training and improves its factual accuracy, while reducing hallucinations. However, there is a catch! We find that RAG also amplifies social biases in the generator 1/
- The event is aimed primarily at PhD students, early-career researchers, and those with an interest in NLP (+ NLP researchers & practitioners more broadly).
- We'll have speakers from industry and academia, along with tutorials, networking opportunities, & a poster session. 2/2
