What love we have for our brothers and sisters in the Orthodox Churches! I want to congratulate and send my love and best wishes to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, Archbishop of Constantinople. This is his 35th anniversary as the successor of St. Andrew! May God let him stay with us for a long time. @thegnewsroom

Yesterday I had a very moving Mass in honor of two police officers killed in the line of duty on the same day 38 years ago. They really believed when Jesus said, greater love than this nobody has, than to give his or her life for another. That's what they did! That's why I have such admiration for our police officers. That's why I'm so honored to serve as one of their co-chaplains here in New York. @thegnewsroom

Our Blessed Mother appeared to the three little shepherds in Fatima in 1917. Her last apparition was today, October 13! I have the honor today of offering Mass at the National Blue Army Shrine, the shrine to Our Lady of Fatima in New Jersey. I’ll light a candle for you! @thegnewsroom

There’s not a leader in the past immune to criticism except Jesus. But I tell you this – the virtue of Christopher Columbus is towering. Happy Columbus Day, everybody! @thegnewsroom

When Blessed Fulton John Sheen was ordained a priest, he made a promise that, every Saturday, he would offer the Mass of the Blessed Mother. He also asked Our Lady to give him a gift. @thegnewsroom

St. Denis was the first Bishop of Paris and a martyr. I don’t know if you noticed when Pope Leo went to France and was so enthusiastically received, one of the places he went was the Hill of Montmartre, the “hill of the martyrs,” where the early martyrs were slaughtered. Among them was St. Denis, whose feast we celebrate today. The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the faith! @thegnewsroom

Blessed Fulton J. Sheen was the director of the missions here in the United States. I mention it to you because this Sunday is Mission Sunday! He said, “Some help the missions by going. Most help the missions by staying, praying, and sacrificing.” You’re going to be asked to do that this Sunday. @thegnewsroom

It’s the feast of the Most Holy Rosary, sometimes called the feast of Our Lady of Victory. Here’s what happened: Back in 1570, there was an epic battle of Lepanto. Pope St. Pius V called upon the people of Europe to ask Our Blessed Mother’s intercession through the Most Holy Rosary. The Christian forces won! I’m thinking of the power of the Rosary. I’m thinking of Pope Leo’s recent trip to France. @thegnewsroom

We’re still on a high after the beatification of Blessed Fulton John Sheen, and I mentioned that in some of my upcoming daily visits with you that I might share some quotes from Blessed Sheen. Here’s one! @thegnewsroom

[Cardinal Dolan @CardinalDolan]

One of the most common refrains I hear is “I don’t know how to pray like I should.” Even St. Paul said that! I mention it to you because it happens to be the feast of St. Faustina, who gave us that beautiful prayer from the Divine Mercy Devotion: “Jesus, I trust in Thee.” When you don’t know how to pray, that’s not a bad way to go! @thegnewsroom

[Cardinal Dolan @CardinalDolan]

It’s the first Saturday of the month of October, dedicated to the Most Holy Rosary. Our Blessed Mother at Fatima suggested that we pray frequently the Rosary. It’s not a prayer to her – we can only pray to God – it’s a prayer with her! @thegnewsroom

[Cardinal Dolan @CardinalDolan]

“Let’s get personal.” We talk about God protecting us, loving us, watching over us. God says to us, “Let’s make this personal!” and He sends each of us a personal guardian angel. @thegnewsroom

[Cardinal Dolan @CardinalDolan]

We say that God doesn’t have any favorites – we are all His favorites! But I think God especially loves the little ones. Today is the feast of the Little Flower of Jesus, St. Thérèse of Lisieux. @thegnewsroom

[Cardinal Dolan @CardinalDolan]

Blessed Fulton John Sheen said it so eloquently. The mark of a genuine Catholic is the ability to sense the divine in beautiful, ordinary things! @thegnewsroom

[Cardinal Dolan @CardinalDolan]

It’s the feast of the three archangels – you know who they are: Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael. Their names tell us about them! @thegnewsroom

[Cardinal Dolan @CardinalDolan]

You ever heard of St. Lorenzo Ruiz? You should! You know why? He’s a saint of the Philippines, and we rejoice in the magnificent Filipino Catholics that we have here in the United States. San Lorenzo Ruiz, pray for us! @thegnewsroom

[Cardinal Dolan @CardinalDolan]

“God is where you least expect to find Him.” That was even true in the life of Jesus! That was Blessed Fulton John Sheen’s point. We think, “where is God in all this mess?” @thegnewsroom

[Cardinal Dolan @CardinalDolan]

Yesterday was the beatification of Blessed Fulton J. Sheen. I thought I’d share with you some of the magnificent quotes he used! Here’s one I love: “To be a sinner is our greatest curse, to admit it is our greatest blessing.” How right he was! @thegnewsroom

[Cardinal Dolan @CardinalDolan]

I’m actually in St. Louis today. I think you know the good news: September 24 is the beatification of Fulton John Sheen! He was probably the greatest evangelist the Catholic Church in the United States has ever known. Eloquent, witty, passionately in love with Jesus and His Church, a great priest – Blessed Fulton J. Sheen, may we continue to learn from your example! @thegnewsroom

[Cardinal Dolan @CardinalDolan]

Today is the feast of St. Pio of Pietrelcina, also known as Padre Pio, one of the most popular Catholic saints these days. One of his sayings that I love is, “pray, hope, and do not despair!” Great lesson. @thegnewsroom
