“If we have died with Christ we shall also live with him; if we persevere we shall also reign with him. But if we deny him he will deny us. If we are unfaithful he remains faithful, for he cannot deny himself” (2 Tim 2: 8–15). Our Redeemer is always faithful.
Holy Mary, our mother, comfort us when we are frightened or confused. Share with us your unwavering confidence in the goodness and mercy of your Son, Jesus.
As the bishops of the United States consecrate our nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Cardinal Tobin will celebrate a special Mass of Thanksgiving on June 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark. @CardinalJWTobin

“As gold in the furnace, the Lord put his chosen to the test; as sacrificial offerings, he took them to himself; and in due time they will be honored, and grace and peace will be with the elect of God” (Wis 3:6–7,9). St. Charles Lwanga and companions, pray for us.
Mary, Queen of Martyrs, teach us to be faithful and uncompromising in our witness to your Divine Son. Teach us love peace and to practice justice in all our affairs.
On May 31, Cardinal Tobin joined a bilingual Rosary service held about half a mile from the Delaney Hall immigrant detention facility in Newark. @CardinalJWTobin encouraged those present to “move forward in hope” and to follow Christ’s example. https://t.co/vEZODtz37Q
“Is it lawful to pay the census tax to Caesar or not? Should we pay or should we not pay?” Knowing their hypocrisy Jesus said to them, “Repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God” (Mk 12:13–17).
“O God, who through the folly of the Cross
wondrously taught Saint Justin the Martyr
the surpassing knowledge of Jesus Christ,
grant us, through his intercession,
that, having rejected deception and error,
we may become steadfast in the faith” (Collect).
On June 1, 1978, Archbishop William Cousins ordained my six classmates and me to the priesthood. I give thanks to God for calling me to this service in the Church, and to our Mother of Perpetual Help for her constant care. Holy Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us.
Mary most holy, all generations will call you blessed, for he who is mighty has done great things for you, and holy is his name. Blessed be the name of the Lord our God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit!
“But many that are first will be last, and the last will be first” (Mk 10:31). Only by humbling ourselves will we be able to take our rightful places at the Heavenly Banquet.
Loving Mother, we entrust to your loving care the poor and vulnerable. Help us to remember them always, but especially in times of crisis. Teach us to pray for them and to help them any way we can.
“O God, who entrusted the governance of your Church
to Pope Saint Paul the Sixth,
a steadfast apostle of the Gospel of your Son,
grant, we pray, that enlightened by his teachings,
we may work together with you
to spread the culture of love throughout the world” (Collect).
Holy Mary, Mother of the Church, help us to celebrate the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Teach to be Spirit-filled evangelizers who joyfully proclaim God’s presence among us in Word, Sacrament and Service to all who are in need.
“Lifting up his eyes to heaven, Jesus prayed, saying: “Holy Father, keep them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one just as we are one” (Jn 17:11-12). Jesus’ heartfelt desire is that we who are separated from God and from each other may be one in Him.
“Shout for joy, O daughter Zion! Sing joyfully, O Israel! Be glad and exult with all your heart, O daughter Jerusalem!” (Zeph 3:14–18a). We have received the Holy Spirit. Our hearts rejoice with Mary in the greatness of the Lord!

“The Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death and hand him over to the Gentiles who will mock him, spit upon him, scourge him, and put him to death, but after three days he will rise” (Mk 10:30–45). Christ is risen!
