With a game two win for UNC, Sean Allen and USC will be playing a game three tomorrow. It will be an interesting watch to see how Allen manages his pitching staff tomorrow with his two top starters likely unavailable in the elimination game.

There have been less transfer portal entries so far than I initially thought, which looks promising. Jake Wagoner is the only player who has a confirmed new destination, with Stallings, Scott, Hartmann, Culp, and Dagley still having the possibility to return.

As of now a few key names stick out that haven’t announced intentions to enter the portal, specifically, Jarret Williams, Ayden Sunday, and Lane Sparks. I can’t confirm if they’ll stay, but it seems to be a possibility with a new coach being hired quickly.

Jarret Williams had a standout freshman season and is only set to improve. Ayden Sunday didn’t get a ton of playing time in this upperclassman-laden position player group, but showed flashes of potential and is certainly someone Lamar would like to keep around. Lane Sparks was consistent for Lamar in his junior year and has some pop off the bat. I’ll continue to keep an eye on these names.

SOURCES: @Lamar_Baseball is hiring #USC assistant and 2021 @D1Baseball Assistant of the Year Sean Allen as its new head coach, I'm told. Allen has spent the past few seasons with the Trojans, and previously was a top assistant at Texas. I absolutely love this hire for #Lamar.

If whatever new Coach brings his own staff and players, there’s no spot for the existing ones. Entering 🌪️ simply broadens a players opportunities that he previously may not have needed.
