ALS NB & NS is the life-affirming advocate for people & their families helping them navigate through a confusing & difficult disease with dignity & purpose.
Sharing my experiences for ALS Awareness Month:
Breathing is hard, so I wear a BiPap machine when I’m sleeping and a lot during the day. My daughter calls it my Darth Vader machine. To which I reply, “Olivia, I am your father.”
The BiPap keeps me alive. A lifesaver.

We're focused on a well-staffed system. Since June 2022, Horizon and Vitalité health networks have hired more than 700 permanent RNs, LPNs, and PSWs, resulting in a net gain of 394 new employees.

Capt. Kevin Corkum and firefighter Conor Scott may not consider themselves heroes, but I do.
They, and so many other first responders, are heroes. #NovaScotia

Thank you to those who joined us this morning for our flag-raising in Halifax Grand Parade! Even though the wind didn't cooperate for our photo, you can visit anytime today to see our flag raised to help increase awareness of the over 70,000 survivors and their families across NS
Due to the unpredictability of the fire situation, we will not host the walk at DeWolfe Park on June 3.
We are opening the office from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. to accept cash and cheque donations. We will have snacks, swag give aways, and tours of the warehouse.

Last Sunday was a pretty normal day until news and alerts starting arriving in HRM. Suddenly the world changed and the 7 days since have brought devastation and heroism. Parts of NS still on fire. As we move to next stage, remember it’s still early June, please stay vigilant.
Today is Canadian Armed Forces Day. Thank you to those who serve, have served, and have made the ultimate sacrifice. I'd like to acknowledge and thank those service members actively assisting our firefighters and first responders in fighting wildfires.
This makes me so happy! Thank you Chelsea District Library (of Michigan!) for carrying my #memoir and raising awareness for #ALS! My book's 5th #library (that I'm aware of).
Thanks to the weather, we’re able to lift the woods travel and activity ban, effective 12:01am on Monday.
The province-wide fire ban will remain in effect, as will the $25,000 fines for those who ignore the ban.
If you use the woods: be safe, be smart, and don't flick a dart.

“I grew up in the backyard, on the sidewalks, streets, and driveways, and in the half-dozen parcels of woods that made up the neighborhood…When I began to lose that pillar of my life, I did the only thing I could: I fought to keep it.”
