More fantastic practical ideas on how to approach embedding careers in the curriclum - a spotlight for each subject spread across the academic year #careerschatuk
@CareersChatUK Subject-based Careers Weeks are also a good way of embedding careers into curriculum. Each subject has a scheduled #careers week - with an annual focus. This year our focus in essential employability skills. How can a particular skill be developed in each subject? #careerschatuk
@Craig_Turton@FionaJFletcher 100%, needs to be part of the fabric of the school and a key part of the vision! It all STARTS with the curriculum (in my opinion) #careerschatuk
@slwareham@GatsbyEd Absoslutely amazing and well done for utlising the time to work on the ever-important admin to set the foundation for success when we can all meet in person again! #careerschatuk
Q4 - from a longer-term strategic perspective, what is your long term goal (3-5 years) for careers in the curriculum and how do you think you could make this happen? #CareersChatUK@GatsbyEd#Benchmark4
Thank you for joining this evening's #CareersChatUK about careers in the curriculum!
As a prev. English teacher, the desire to contextualise the curriclum & help pupils see how it linked to their future is what steered me into careers edu so I feel passionate about this one!
Q3 - We've identified some of the issues, how can a school empower teaching staff to embed careers in the curriculum?
All ideas welcome! Maybe you've had success w/ an approach, perhaps it's a thought that just occured or a great resource - pls share #CareersChatUK
@CareersChatUK@GatsbyEd Q4 - one of our ongoing and long-term aims is that each subject is linked to an actual employer to carry out collaborative projects to really link learning to the real world- really connecting school and real world together #careerschatuk
@slwareham@GatsbyEd This is so cool! I'm sure that seeing employers invest in the school is very impactful for staff and pupils. How did you successfully seek out employers willing to do this? #careerschatuk

Fantastic, it's one thing to get teachers to understand it but the top priority is that pupils understand how their subjects relate to their futures #careerschatuk
@CareersChatUK We are now looking at making the links explicit in the teacher resources in the lessons and also so that we can talk to students about all the careers they learn about over a term, year and so on #CareersChatUK
Long-term vision for embedding careers in the curriculum where careers champions take responsibility for their subject areas and regularly share good practice โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ #CareersChatUK
@CareersChatUK So my vision is each dept has a teacher that put themselves forward as a careers champion for their key stage. They are the link person for students and me to go to for that subject area. Each half term we would meet to share good practice. #CareersChatUk@FionaJFletcher
