@SeasSprite @TODAYshow Caregiving can be extremely isolating & lonely! Start talking about it more. It may prompt someone who is otherwise uncomfortable bringing it up to reach out to you or prompt some additional support. If nothing else, it gives you an outlet to express otherwise bottled up emotions

@denisebparsons You are so right... but there's so much that's wrong with that statement. The structure needs to include the whole patient - it would greatly reduce re-admittance rates.

Hospitals need constant communication with #caregivers BEFORE they reach crisis status at home.

Crisis at home greatly affects the health of the patient - their outlook, anxiety levels, recovery times and likelihood of re-admittance into the hospital.

@mikejwhelan Some insurance companies offer social workers as well. It's not widely advertised (again 🤬) but worth a phone call to find out.

@mikejwhelan In the meantime, take a walk around the facility. Get some fresh air. I call this our 10-minute reset. If 10 minutes is all you have, a little exercise and sunshine can reset your mood and boost your health so that you can deal with his heart breaking situation.

@mikejwhelan Sadly, this is not an unusual story. Ask your wife's social worker for resources for YOU & your household. Serving the entire patient situation is their job

Forcing people to do their jobs should not even be on your list 🤬 BUT, I'm afraid you have to be your own best advocate.

@CancerFinalGirl It's *mostly because caregivers aren't educated or supported in their new role. Your relationship changes as the disease and treatment changes. Yet, these things aren't talked about by doctors.
