Moreover, the jury system provides a powerful protection for the criminally accused, as unanimity among jurors of diverse backgrounds and experiences is difficult to achieve. Holdout jurors are a feature of the American jury system, not a bug.

For a media outlet—specifically Boston NBC 10—to expose the personal life of a private person merely because that individual honorably performed his civic duty and devoted weeks of his life to jury service is shameful.

Who in their right mind will appear for jury service if they know they can be publicly humiliated and dragged just because some media outlet or finger-wagging mob believes they voted the “wrong” way? This disgraceful “reporting” by Boston NBC 10 is an attack on the foundation of the American justice system itself. Shame.

He performed his civic duty and followed his conscience, refusing to acquit a woman who confessed to systematically executing her three children. The defense attorney immediately launched a public smear campaign against the juror. Soon several other jurors joined the campaign. Then the media. Even the defense attorney’s wife has joined. Now they’re doxxing the man, digging into his past, contacting his family, showing up at his house.
