I remember this. @EarvinMagicJohnson is wearing the Wilson (Bata) sneakers. I wore them for basketball in the Men’s Intramural league that year because #MSU did.
@HEIRMJ@TrophyRoomStore@Jumpman23 I love those. I hope I can get a pair. I've been collecting sneakers for over 50 years, and those would look great in my collection
@MatthewJWelty You're right - and its global. I'm Abu Dhabi this week and the clerk at the market here along with another person were wearing panda dunks. I've seen them in Africa as well.
@MatthewJWelty Matt, Your story brought tears to my eyes. Watching it again on Twitter makes me cry again. Great story! I am sure it makes us love you more.
@MatthewJWelty You are correct! Nike designs and makes the shoes. They would like to keep more of the profit so are making more shoes when they are sure they can see though. Here in 3Tempe, #CommonHype is doing fine and has an important role in getting #sneakerheads like me stuff that we missed
@MatthewJWelty Very true! And, some of us still do that. First day of teaching for me today at #arizonastateuniversity and I’m wearing Chinese New Year Jordan 1’s that you can’t get at the mall. I guess I’m still doing that.
@reporterestes@MinotaurBooks Congratulations! Writing a book is hard! I can’t wait to read it. I’ll need to figure out how to get you to sign it for me. Changing Hands, maybe?
@MatthewJWelty Very true! When I started in sneaker culture in the 1970’s the idea of limited editions was offensive. We just assumed the supply was limitless. It wasn’t until 80s-90s and JIT inv Mgt that it made sense to limit supply and that had a positive marketing effect.
@MatthewJWelty Matt, you are a Christ follower. You are smart. Don’t be angry about haters. They are always going to be there. You are a good guy. Be positive and reflect Christ’s love. Don’t get pulled down. You are loved. You’re in my prayers.
@MatthewJWelty Yes! I thought Lil Yachts was good, but Jim Jones and Clark Kent did not rtally seem to understand the big world of sneakers nearly as well as you and Brendan outside of a narrow perspective in the urban community. Sneaker World includes a lot of diversity and you guys add that
@MatthewJWelty I am your supporter. I am an old professor (ASU now, used to be Rutgers) that likes naive buyer stuff like Jordan 1 mids you don’t like even though I have been buying sneakers probably longer than you have been alive. I always learn from you. You are a Godly man & a good guy.
