Duke of Edinburgh changes lives and should be accessible to every student, no matter what thier background is.

I believe that every young person who wants to complete the Duke of Edinburgh Award should be able to do, whatever their background. At NOTTINGHAM UNIVERSITY ACADEMY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY lots of students already benefit from this transformational experience but I want them all to!

Our staff are dedicated to supporting our students with the award by developing skills and supporting them throughout, especially on the expeditions which really challenge them and give great opportunities to live our values of respect, resilience and aspiration.

However, cost is a barrier to so many students, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Can you, or someone you know help my vision of Duke of Edinburgh for all a reality?

I am looking for individuals or businesses to support by donating or sponsoring students to remove the barrier of cost.

Students asked great questions and gained a great insight into how to be successful in their futures whether in medicine or whatever they choose.

🎉 GCSE Success at NOTTINGHAM UNIVERSITY ACADEMY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY! 🎉

After last week’s record-breaking A Level results, students @NUASTUK , part of Nova Education Trust, are celebrating another phenomenal set of GCSE achievements!

✅ 76% achieved at least a standard pass in Maths & English

✅ Nearly 1 in 4 secured Grade 7+ in both subjects

✅ Students from disadvantaged backgrounds outperformed national peers

Head Teacher Dave Thompson said:

"We are incredibly proud of our students’ amazing results this year. Their resilience, hard work and commitment have truly paid off, and we can’t wait to see the great things they’ll go on to achieve."

📈 Building Belonging, Boosting Attendance: A Year of Growth at @NUASTUK 🌟

As we reflect on a fantastic year at Nottingham University Academy of Science and Technology, we are especially proud to celebrate one of our most significant achievements this academic year: a sustained improvement in student attendance across all year groups.

Thanks to the collective efforts of students, staff, and families—and our school-wide focus on the theme of ‘Belonging’—attendance at NUAST has improved by over 2%, placing us well above the FFT National Average in every year group. Even more impressively, our Pupil Premium students have exceeded the national average for this group by an even greater margin.

This improvement is no coincidence. At the heart of it is our deliberate focus on creating a school culture where every student feels seen, supported, and valued. Through assemblies, tutor time, enrichment activities, student voice, and a focus on positive relationships, we’ve worked hard to ensure NUAST is a place where students not only learn, but feel like they truly belong.
