Elon Musk says calls for Russia to withdraw completely from Ukraine are unrealistic and that any peace deal will require pragmatism and concessions.

“What I think would be terrible is if there’s another three years of people dying senselessly at the front lines,” Musk told The Economist.

He also criticised diplomats who, in his words, “have seven-course dinners in luxurious places while people are dying” and continue insisting Russia should withdraw.

“I think there’s a lot of wishful thinking here of people saying, well, Russia should completely withdraw. But this is not realistic,” Musk said. “Russia’s not going to withdraw, there really needs to be an accepted peace along those lines.”
