The Stellar Awards should be ashamed for failing to properly honor Richard Smallwood on the main broadcast.

Smallwood wasn’t simply a gospel artist. He was one of the greatest American composers, arrangers and producers across any genre. He masterfully fused Gospel, R&B, Funk and Classical music, creating music with a level of sophistication, musicianship and spiritual power that set a bar so high most will never reach.

Songs like “Total Praise” aren’t just gospel classics—they belong in the canon of great American music.

To relegate the celebration of a musical giant of this magnitude to the pre-show was disrespectful to Richard Smallwood, his family, his extraordinary body of work, and anyone who truly loves and respects music.

Richard Smallwood deserved the main stage. Period.

Below is a response from the Smallwood family:

Well well well. The cold-blooded murderer, Rick Chow turns out to be a globetrotting criminal and gun runner. His son actually knew Cyrus Belton. Let’s hope this new information will help to get Rick Chow convicted and imprisoned.🙏🏾

I put these two clips of Daddy together because I want to share him saying “I’m tired of marching,” then, after continuing the multifaceted work of nonviolence, saying “I’ve been to the mountaintop.”

The 2nd clip is from the speech he gave the night before he was assassinated.
