🇪🇺 @EUCouncil appointed Col. Vittorio Stingo as the new Head of the EU border assistance mission at the Rafah crossing point (EUBAM Rafah).

Starting on 1 November 2026, his initial mandate will run until 30 June 2027.

EU defence ministers were updated by Ukrainian defence minister Evgeniy Khmara @DefenceU on the situation on the ground.

Continued EU support for Ukraine and pressure on Russia remain key and top EU priorities 🇪🇺🇺🇦

Russia has been carrying out attacks against Ukrainian civilians again.

Ukraine needs more Patriot interceptors before winter.
We are calling on Member States that have them in their stocks to provide them to Ukraine.

Member States have also recently agreed how to distribute €6.6 billion in European Peace Facility funds. That means at least €1 billion new funds for joint procurement.

This will strengthen cooperation among Member States on defence and support for Ukraine.
