@scottlincicome The Labor Value Content requirement for cars produced in North America is already a HUGE punch for plants in 🇲🇽Automakers have invested money to continue be in compliance with the USMCA, some could say the rules are already unfair for Mexico.
According to the American Automotive Policy Council's 2024 submission to the USITC, ~11% of US car imports from Canada & Mexico (~15% from just Mexico) are outside the USMCA (ie, automakers opt to just pay the 2.5% MFN duty rate bc the rules of origin are too costly/onerous):
@rami_kiwan@mmcassella@Alex_Panetta The treaty establishes rules to determine if a good can be considered as “eligible” to exempt import duties. It’s not enough that a product such as a car is produced in North America, it must comply based on data and regional content calculation.
@Rodpac@INEGI_INFORMA Por favor ayúdanos en reportar el atasco en la MX - Querétaro. Hay gente que tenemos aquí 9 horas parados, dormimos aquí en el coche y no avanza.
