Are you forgiven?

According to the Bible, assurance of forgiveness comes through faith in Jesus Christ, not through feelings or personal merit. Forgiveness is a gift of God’s grace, received by trusting in Christ’s finished work on the cross.

Jesus’ death and resurrection reversed the original sin, breaking the power of death and offering humanity a way back into a perfect relationship with God. Jesus also died to pay the penalty for the individual, willful sins we commit every day in our thoughts, words, and actions.

His sacrifice was made once - for all humanity.

There is only one denomination in heaven, and it's called the forgiven. Not the Baptists, not the Methodists, not the Pentecostals, not the Catholics, not the theologically sound or the most spiritual, just the forgiven. Just sinners who've thrown themselves on the mercy of Jesus Christ.

Forgiveness isn't earned - it's received and it's available to anyone. No matter what your past is, no matter what your denomination is, no matter how far you've run, Jesus Christ is always there with his arms wide open waiting to wrap those arms around anyone who'll come to him and cry out to him for forgiveness.

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.”

Faith in Christ means you have already crossed from death and its penalty, into life - forgiveness is a present reality. John also gives “tests” of genuine faith in 1 John - obeying God’s commands, loving others, believing in Jesus as the Son of God - which provide subjective assurance that one’s faith is real and that forgiveness is experienced.

Jesus didn't come to start a religion - He came to rescue the lost. And that includes me, and that includes you. Feelings of guilt may linger due to the enemy’s accusations or conscience, but Scripture calls us to stand on God’s promises rather than emotions. Because in the end, heaven won't be divided by labels or traditions - there's only one simple question: Are you forgiven?
