The Rangers have parted ways with Josh Smith, closing the book on parts of five seasons in Texas 🥺

Texas acquired Smith five years ago, nearly to the day, in the July 2021 trade that sent Joey Gallo to the Yankees. He made his debut in 2022 and grew into one of the most versatile players on the roster.

Smith took the field at every position except pitcher and catcher, appearing in 501 games in a Rangers uniform.

The high point came in 2024. After two seasons spent fighting for a regular role, he won his first Silver Slugger as a utility man, hitting .258 with 13 home runs and 62 RBI.

He leaves Texas with 366 hits, 32 home runs, and 136 RBI across those five seasons, along with 31 stolen bases and 197 runs scored. Wherever they needed him, he lined up and played.

Thank you for the memories, Josh. Forever a 2023 World Series Champion. All the best in what comes next! ❤️
