The stress of modern life for toddlers born in Britain:
- confined in car seats
- daily partings from parents
- cold? hungry?
- adults distracted by phones
- slept alone from birth
- noise, lights & pollution
And now the govt wants to reduce adult attentn in EY settings, too.
Today marks two years since @ScotParl voted to incorporate the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) into law #UNCRCScotland. Yet children are still waiting. Every day of delay from the Scottish Government is another broken promise to children.
I talked about this today at @earlyyearsscot event. The pandemic has had a massive impact on children’s speech & language. One in 5 delayed! Specialist services can’t fix this. We adults - parents & grandparents & early years staff - can take the lead. https://t.co/s3hgy7OxzF
This is why I keep talking about t way adults treat children, t beliefs adults hold about children, t sense of entitlement adults hold toward children - and t damage adults do as a result of those factors. This is machismo & cruelty writ large in Florida USA. @no2hitting

“Children need play. They NEED play to develop well. It’s not a luxury, it’s not something that we should regard as recess or a break from learning. It IS learning.” — Dr. Peter Gray

Why do Liz Truss’ hand gestures trigger so many people? A THREAD
(Feel free to replace the word ‘trigger’ w/ ‘irritate’ or ‘confuse’ or ‘embarrass’ or whatever word you like. My point in this 🧵still holds.
HNCA-Creating fun ways to educate children about GIRFEC. Students used their imagination to invent a game relating to SHANARRI. The class would love to know what kind of resources you use in your nursery/school? #sharinggoodpractice@Angela_R_ELC@SLC_ELC
I've seen some questions being asked from some individuals about behaviour management/trauma approaches etc.All I can say is that this approach has been extremely beneficial to many pupils under my watch, who could have been written off. They are now on an incredible journey. 🧠🌱

There is a long forgotten story in Britain's history which shows how class & privilege intersect w/ the push for trauma-informed policies. It helps us understand resistance to change. It starts in 1945 in children's hospitals. A THREAD.
