This thread. Thankful to @edyong209 for the important, people-centered coverage of the pandemic. The grief is real, the burnout is real, the long-term effects are real. Feeling reflective.
There might have been 40% fewer COVID19 infections globally if we all had the level of trust seen in Denmark. What an influence trust has! https://t.co/pTBwUNIJdw

It has been a week since @NoorAbdisalan wrote this impactful piece in @PLOSGPH. I've given it a lot of thought. I hope that many #globalhealth orgs have done the same.

1. Can we agree that the need to insist on "country ownership" in 2022 is very sad?
I think this is some of the most exciting and important work happening at PATH. Centering health workers to understand their challenges, then identifying solutions and developing rapid prototypes that really work. #HCDatPATH

Paul Farmer and the book about him, Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder, opened my eyes to global public health nearly 20 years ago. It inspired me to learn more about health equity, and I hope we can all continue to advance his legacy of health care access for all.
We're devastated to hear the news of Dr. Paul Farmer's passing. A champion for health equity, Dr. Farmer was a trailblazer in global public health. Thanks to his leadership at @PIH and @ughe_org, many people's lives changed for the better. He has and will continue to inspire us.
🚨I wrote about immunocompromised people—what they’ve been through, their frustrations, and their hopes.
This is a plea to think about those who don’t get to be done with the pandemic, and to prioritize them as a matter of moral and medical urgency. 1/

Great commentary by @MichelSidibe. "The pandemic will not be over until it's over everywhere." We need equitable global distribution of vaccines. https://t.co/aviF7F4hcg via @BrookingsInst
🚨Well, I wrote about Omicron--what we know & what it means.
I feel the core problem is unchanged: The variant poses a much greater threat at the societal level than the individual one, making it the kind of problem the US has consistently flubbed. 1/

You can't deliver COVID vaccines without syringes. Autodisable (AD) syringes are safe injection devices used in 100 countries. But a new analysis shows a supply gap of >1billion AD syringes could affect COVID vaccine rollout. https://t.co/i9hfN1sNC3
