๐ฌ 10 months of Carnivore and here's what I've learnt! ๐ฅฉ
Where to begin...
Firstly, I was inspired by the posts from @ClausCarlsen1, @carnivoremax, @NewDawn7411, and @CaryKelly11. Claus's posts were engaging and backed by strong science, while Max and Cary always shared delicious foods that made the diet seem achievable. Dawn's account showcased the diet's long-term success, delicious recipes, and evidence that it's achievable.
My initial goal was to lose weight, as I have a young family and didn't want to hear my daughter ask, "Why is daddy fat?" I wasn't looking to cure any ailments, just to live a healthier life. Starting at 18+ stone, I began with beef, butter, and eggs only. The first few days were tough, but after a few more, my abdomen changed, and I no longer felt bloated. After a month, I started having nightmares about eating beef, which led me to introduce dairy and other meats like lamb, chicken, and pork. Pork, in particular, had never tasted so good.
Regarding cheat meals, during the first three months, I would have one every 6-7 days. I would eat to excess, feel sick, and then spend the next two days feeling bloated. This led me to extend my diet periods to 10-12 days, which was a game-changer. It reduced cravings and allowed me to push to 14+ days, which is now my preferred method.
Some unexpected things I encountered while changing my diet included the sense of community and friendship within the low-carb lifestyle. I've found real friends here, and we all question the norm, authority, and "science." I also did not expect the clarity of thinking to improve as it did, making the past seem blurry compared to now.
From this lack of brain fog, and other clear thinking minds alike Carnivore Corner, a space on X dedicated to the carnivore diet, keto diet, and low-carb ways of life, was created. I reached out to Max to discuss doing a spaces on X around the carnivore diet, and our first guest was Claus. CC is always evolving, and everyone is welcome to discuss any topics they'd like.
I'm now down about 28kg from last August, going from an extra large to a medium. While it's not all sunshine and rainbows, some days I feel tired, and sometimes I still have cravings. However, I also feel great and full of energy. This diet has given me tools to question every aspect of life, getting me back into working out, reducing screen time, increasing family time, and walking away from what the government wants us to do.
If you feel stuck in life, don't give up. Change your diet! ๐ฅ
Let's get it! ๐ฅ
