@nosfealu Me da un poco de pena que todos decíamos que defenderíamos cualquier crimen de Rhaneyra y el único crimen que ha cometido es que no ha cometido ninguno jajajaja
I hated episode 3x4 of House of the Dragon. 🙄 It's such a poorly written episode, and the Hightowers - one of the most fascinating families in Fire & Blood - are reduced to cartoonishly evil villains. In fact, why is almost every member of Team Green either a one-dimensional psychopath or some morally abhorrent caricature??? 🤔👀
Ormund Hightower is a perfect example. In the book, he's essentially a war hero, respected and beloved by the men who follow him. Here, he's turned into an unstable lunatic with anger issues and who murders an innocent man simply because he "laid hands on a Hightower." Why??? 🤦🏾♂️ Why couldn't he just be the brave, honourable lord George R.R. Martin wrote him as???
And then there's Daeron. Of course they have him kill an innocent man for no reason. In Fire & Blood, "Daeron the Daring" earns that name because he repeatedly saves the Hightower army from defeat, winning battle after battle on Tessarion. He's courageous, clever and, as his nickname suggests, his also very daring. But on the show??? Apparently the best way to characterize him is by having him needlessly kill civilians. It's so baffling the choices that these writers make. 🤦🏾♂️
Aegon, meanwhile, is humiliated yet again. In episode 3x1, the writers reportedly wanted him to kiss some random man's feet, but Tom Glynn-Carney pushed back against that decision because he felt like it wasn't something that Aegon would do. Now, in episode 3x4, they're making him kneel and kiss a guy named Janos's feet instead. What is this obsession with humiliating Aegon??? Every other episode seems determined to degrade him, as if the writers are terrified viewers might actually like the character.
And then there's Rhaenyra. She's now Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, and the show makes sure you never forget it. In every episode someone always has to remind the audience that "Rhaenyra is our rightful queen". The Lady of Tumbleton says it, Lady Arryn says it, and at this rate, a newborn baby will probably say it while suckling at its mother's breast. Like, we get it ready for Christ sake.
The problem that the writers have with Team Green manifests the opposite way when it comes to Rhaenyra. With Team Green, the writers are obsessed with turning them into cartoonish villains, but with Rhaenyra, they are constantly trying to scrub away all her flaws.
In Fire & Blood, Rhaenyra imposes heavy taxes on the smallfolk after Tyland hides the crown's gold. But of course, on the show, Lord Manderly takes the blame instead. In the book, she has Tyland Lannister tortured when he refuses to reveal where the treasury is. But on the show, Tyland conveniently isn't around (he might even be dead). In the book, she never even thinks to borrow from the Iron Bank. But of course, on the show, she's wise enough to do exactly that.
It's the same pattern over and over again: the Greens are humiliated, villainized and stripped of their nuance, while Rhaenyra is endlessly sanitized and presented as the wise, righteous queen who can do no wrong. 😇
It's so unbelievably stupid. This isn't the Dance of the Dragons. It isn't George R.R. Martin's story anymore. It's fucking a farce. 😤😤😤
