OT Week 2018 - you have been a blast.
This week I have:
1. Tweeted daily ✔️
2. Helped with our OT stall at work ✔️
3. BUT most importantly helped my clients achieve their personal goals and independence ✔️

Havent tweeted in a while but International stop the pressure day is a good place to restart. Having great conversation here at ILC with my wheelchair colleagues regarding the importance of recognising the damage of pressure and prevention! #stopthepressure@GlosHealthNHS
Occupational therapists have long been advocates and practitioners of integrated care working across health, social care, housing, education, employment, voluntary & the independent sector @OTglos#ValueofOT @Glos_CareNHS @PaulRobertsNHS @drheinleroux#betterjoinedupcare
Ian has progressive supra-nuclear palsy. He rarely speaks. Yesterday I planned an interactive carol concert but his daughter Andrea said her Dad loved Paul Young so I grabbed my guitar & this happened. When he touches his shirt & mine at the end I was blown away @RevRichardColes
#DidYouKnow An occupational therapist's skills lend themselves to new emerging roles, such as working with asylum seekers or refugees, working alongside police or fire services, or liaising with psychiatric services.
Watching @BBCOne#Care and utterly dismayed at how Occupational Therapists are being portrayed. That poor lady would never been taken for an assessment like that considering how she was presenting on the ward. Its horrible to watch how the health professionals are so cold!
.@BBCOne Good to highlight issues within the system in #Care, but a shame that last night's drama #Care was only able to show an instance of bad practice and mismanagement when portraying occupational therapy within the care pathway to stroke patients.
We're fast approaching the busiest time of the year for the NHS. Equipment such as crutches, perching stalls or hoists, that you no longer use can be returned. Help us recycle and reuse these items by visiting https://t.co/bsKktClEYk

Having the opportunity to be an advocate for #SpeakUpToMe for @Glos_CareNHS holds great importance for me. We should all feel we are able to speak up and feel valued! #freedomtospeakup
Monday Motivation is in full force today amongst the OT
teams with everyone busy preparing for the week ahead especially with the
#OTshow mid-week allowing our OT's to remain up to date with current equipment and aids to enable independence.

One of our ICT Occupational Therapists Clare Millward demonstrating the use of a leg lifter on OT week 2018, a small manual device which enables individuals to independently lift legs in and out of bed. Simple yet effective.

At the end of #selfcareweek, we found that while some acts of self care can go a long way, it isn't one size fits all. For some, it can feel gimmicky and for most, finding the time is just impossible. Enjoy what makes you happy and look out for yourself. Always remember you.
