All of it, not just the little bit I am able to control. But it’s hard not to just feel so disappointed at the tide they’re going to have to swim against and that I still do. I’ll get to the fighting part, soon. But right now I just wish the world could leave them alone.
As a teacher who (by virtue of working in a public school, by virtue of being accepting, by virtue of being willing and insistent about building a safe space) works with queer children every day, I have spent so much time helping them fight their fights and feel as accepted
possible in the tiny corner of the universe we occupy. I just feel so tired right now. I look at the hostility of the world I and my kids have to face, and I’m exhausted. As an adult, I know it’s important to muster energy and fight and work concretely on making the world better.
I have discovered that my students don’t know about the new Barbie movie. I made a Barbie movie joke and they just started talking about Barbie cartoon movies from when they were in elementary school. Is this because I am too online?
@racheline_m Your cat is so much smarter than my cats. One of them just tried to jump on a box without realizing it was open and instead he fell in and then tried to look cool.
@TODAYshow Why is the Today Show promoting Kamila Valieva, who tested positive for doping and still competed at the Olympics? Why is the Today Show promoting the performances of Russian athletes who are banned from international competition because of Russia's invasion of Ukraine? Shameful.
That feeling when you’ve been planning fake vacations instead of working (or going to bed) and you’re so deep in that you’re like “I thought a 24 day Mediterranean Cruise would be more impressive.”
