In #Cambridge to give a keynote at the @CAN_Cambridge annual conference on youth participation in placemaking. I’ll be sharing some practical insights on how to ensure young people participate in local community and cultural life on their own terms!
#CommonFutures
Really interesting discussion on the growing #GoodAncestor movement, whether urgent action trumps generational visions, and what #LongTerm actually means. Thanks to all the speakers and participants… we’ll be doing more on this at @TheCrowd soon
#PurposeSummit23
HOW TO BE A GOOD ANCESTOR - Common threads in this breakout included how to build unheard voices and diverse perspectives into governance models, and balancing big #longterm ambitions with the need for urgent action today
#PurposeSummit23
I am REALLY excited to be chairing this session this afternoon about how businesses (and/ or the people in them) can be Good Ancestors and leave a long term legacy.
#PurposeSummit23
Given that it’s such a broad concept, it’s GREAT to have some heated debate about what it means to put #purpose into practice - the extent of the sacrifices and trade-offs needed, and how to appeal to minds and hearts
#PurposeSummit23
Brilliant first #PurposeSummit23 plenary session with @NatDCampbell @GreenSolitaire @M_Heffernan talking about being bolder, braver, and more passionate about #purpose to create a better future for this generation and the next
A real pleasure to be hosting so many leading minds at #PurposeSummit23 for a day of inspiration and solutions-focused discussions on what it takes to turn #purpose into meaningful impact in business
(4/4) In practice, this means seeing tenant comms not as a process but as part of an architecture of listening and learning, integral to good quality and standards. Building that holistic voice architecture helps persuade and advocate externally too.
#HousingCommunications
Summary of my contribution to the opening #HousingCommunications panel:
(1/4) Two-way comms isn’t enough, HAs can use power and position to broker genuine and participatory dialogue and relationship building within communities
@insidehousing
(3/4) This isn’t simply about information flow, it’s about developing #regenerative#resilience in communities - building relationships and confidence is pre-emptive investment into the capacity of communities before a #crisis hits
#HousingCommunicatons@insidehousing
Organisations need to look at co-design with their audiences to drive change. Using the customer voice more practically to create meaningful change.
Not just listening. Building genuine trust amongst audiences #housingcommunications
💥 The morning has been a brilliant start at #housingcommunications 💥 We’ve welcomed over 200 #comms professionals through the door so far and more coming in as we speak.
Remote switching shouldn’t be allowed as when this happened to me, @OVOEnergy hadn’t even given me an account number to top up and it took an hour on hold to pay. Also the fact that not being able to pay energy bills is labelled “self-disconnection” is morally repugnant @ofgem
This article from @independent@DeanKirby_ is a sad insight into energy companies’ abuse of power.

Last week my supply was cut off by @YourSSE @OVOEnergy and I was moved to a prepayment meter, remotely, without notice or consultation…
In my case I had paid my bill and after almost 5 hours of calls they’ve acknowledged an admin error and agreed to reinstate the original account. But has given me a first hand insight into the ‘computer says no’ culture and systems fails that is forced on vulnerable ppl
@LouiseCramsie @YourSSE @Alex_Doorey@NewStatesman@emmahaslett@EnergyUKcomms@OVOEnergy I’m able to self advocate and am fortunate enough to have a job that can accommodate being bounced around your call centres for HOURS each day - what about those who can’t? Based on my convos with your call centre staff in 4 different depts my experiences are NOT unique.
Yes we’re in an #energycrisis but @ovoenergy @yoursse should stop deflecting to policy and fix your broken admin so that customers aren’t unnecessarily distressed and you can focus on those who really do need support @Alex_Doorey@LouiseCramsie https://t.co/UNx28TXCaY
