The influencers > authors pipeline really sucks because there’s just more tiktokslop on bookshelves and real amazing artists have to work twice as hard for the same audience. And the influencer books all end up in landfills or little free libraries!!
As summer approaches I feel the need to remind you all:
No one needs to see a photo of your feet. We get it, you’re on the beach, at the pool, lounging around. I promise you there’s a better shot. PROMISE.
If two respectful young people can't discuss global affairs over a meal, what are we even doing here? Should we save it for Instagram comments and Facebook group fights?
I don't know what to make of this experience other than it's left me deeply concerned.
A friend and I were discussing Israel/Palestine issues in a restaurant. Calm, respectful, thoughtful. The table next to us asked us to move because they "didn't appreciate our conversation".
What world do we live in that people feel entitled to the conversations of others?
Both of us were so stunned we didn't immediately respond, but they ended up asking the server to move (as they could have from the beginning).
This experience has left me thinking about the spaces we take up and what we can expect from others.
