@JoannaCannon I’ve really been hooked on all of Ronald H. Balson’s novels. His ones based on the holocaust are brilliant and really drew me in: Once We Were Brothers, Karolina’s Twins, The Girl from Berlin, Defending Britta Stein. Different settings and perspectives in each, all excellent.
@VancouverPD@keithbaldrey In this deep dive, I’m curious if there are any statistics on how many of the victims were people of colour. What percentage of the crimes might have been racially motivated?
@SigneSJohansen The enchanting series of Inspector Gamache books by Louise Penny. You can read each as a stand-alone, or start at the beginning of the series with Still Life. You will fall in love with the homicide detective and his family and friends, along with the village of Three Pines.
@heyadamroberts Use some to make meyer lemon curd & freeze it. No jars needed. The curd can be used for 101+ desserts including straight up on buttered toast. 16 yolks, 200g sugar, 250g lemon juice, 180g butter. Rub zest into the sugar before cooking.
@benwilson1130 Go to a park with lots of trees (shade) and spend the evening there with a picnic. Take a blanket and enjoy the shade. Lots of local parks like this- the ones near a River have even more breeze to cool you off.
@heyadamroberts Classic biscotti- I agree with you. I never liked any biscotti until I tried Dorie Greenspan’s Lenox Almond Biscotti. It’s a crunchy butter cookie with cornmeal for texture disguised in the shape of biscotti. With lemon zest rubbed into the sugar they’re addictive.
