It's funny, if you talk to maga ppl. They say make America great again. So you ask them, when was America great? You'll find that a lot of ppl will refer to the 1950's when republican eisenhower was president.

Ok so let's look at the 1950's then.

- Top marginal tax rate of 90%
- Expansion of social security
- Strengthening of unions and the creation of more union jobs
- Embracement of anti corruption and anti trust laws
- huge investments into public education.
- strong social safety nets
- huge investments in infrastructure

But when you look at the republican party today they are against all these things. However, in the 50's misogyny and racism was incredibly rampant. I'm guessing that's what they want to bring back.

What's also amusing is that eisenhower once wrote to his brother the following on Nov. 8, 1954

"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are H. L. Hunt (you possibly know his background), a few other Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. 4 Their number is negligible and they are stupid."

So really, according eisenhower, the republican party shouldn't even exist anymore just for their stance on policy. Nevermind the entire shredding of the constitution by trying to overturn elections they lost.

Maga is an anti American movement and the Republicans of old that fought fascism are having to bare witness to that same party now embracing it.

The only reason why trump is successful is because the greatest generation that conservatives like to reference all the time, has died off.

Jim Carrey in his sophomore year in high school in Burlington, Ontario, Canada, 1970s. During this time, Jim and his family were so poor that they were all living out of a van. After school, Jim and his brother would work 8-hour shifts as janitors and security guards at a tire factory. At age 16, Jim quit school and continued working at the factory while honing his craft as a comedian.
