The absurd part of the Galway West election is that Helen Ogbu who will likely win a seat in the next GE is a product of Fianna Fail and Fine Gael's failed asylum system of the early 00s. She should never have been allowed stay the country. Not only was she allowed to stay but FF/G funded her NGO career in Ireland.

Fianna Fail and Fine Gael are literally importing and financially supporting their own opposition.

Now will FF/G have an epiphany and crank up the deportation machine before 2029? Of course not. They'll simply find their own 'minority' candidates. It'll be FG's Indians Vs FF's South East Asians Vs the hard left's 'refugees'.

Ireland, it's a queer ol' place. 🤷‍♂️

So Labour promoted a candidate with a false backstory. If Ms Ogbu didn't come to Ireland following her husband's death, what were the grounds on which she claimed asylum? Why didn't she go to a nearer country? How much did her claim cost Irish taxpayers?

Bacik personally repeated the false story, the party used it throughout the bye election campaign, and they only deleted it after getting caught.
Wonder if Ogbu will do them a favour and vacate her position as Mayor, or stay on and keep the pressure on them.

Huge credit to @irishdailymail and their brave lead on this @_BrianMahon_. This is the rarest of rare species, an outbreak of investigative journalism surrounding Ireland's catastrophic border management over the past 25+ years.

You could count on one hand how many times a national media journalist dared go into this territory for fear of the inevitable defamation and cries of 'racism'.

No. This is morally courageous journalism! This is what the 4th Estate is supposed to do, hold the powerful to account. Ireland is a mess precisely because the national media took the government handouts and looked the other way for so long.

The nasty response by the Labour Party shows how shocked they are that someone dared question the holes in Ogbu's story.

HELEN OGBU'S LATE HUSBAND'S TIES TO ISRAEL

According to his obituary at iNigerian, her husband Nze was "Igbo leader at the University of Uyo and in Israel during his diaspora days."

He spent time in the state during the 90s.

Previously Helen came under fire from BDS supporters for her hypocrisy in staying at the Israeli-owned Leonardo Hotel in Galway in June despite attending a protest at said hotel the previous May.
