@lynbw @eoinyk I think uniforms have their benefits. Fitting in and having fashionable clothes is a big thing with kids. If your from a less than affluent background, the wearing of uniforms reduces the pressure of not having new or a wide range of clothes.
@martinbeanz@paddycosgrave Not sure how guns solve the problems of lack of police presence, proper prison sentences , prison spaces or alternative punishment for minor crimes?
Not to mind tackling the underlying issues which lead to higher crime rates. Doesn't work for America despite all their guns.

@Tuigim@RottenTomatoes I don't follow, your suggesting they are saying Gaelic when they mean Gaeilge? And they don't say Irish because of the existence of Northern Ireland 🤔 I think they knew what they were referring too, also did use the word Irish intergangably with Gaelic.
@Tuigim@RottenTomatoes And it could be argued that Gaolainn, Gaeilge, Gaelic and Gàidhlig are all distinct languages. Many distinct Romance languages have a higher degree of mutual intelligibility.
@Tuigim@RottenTomatoes Strange I often hear relatives from Donegal refer to it as Gaelic or Irish interchangeably. Particularly older ones. It is the name for the language there. No one gets bothered if people refer to the language as Gaeilge when speaking English, so why Be bothered with Gaelic?
@duburbans Managed just fine with a 1 year old, 3 year old and 6 year old in the back of an 05 Golf. That's not to say it wasn't tight, but it was doable. Larger saloon cars have plenty of room.

The entire street outside has been closed off. This sort of massive Garda operation to prevent empty buildings being used is an utter disgrace and a great example of how this state values property over the people of Ireland.
@topes_lose@Becs@Rubberbandits@MoataTamaira Clearly that man is not a monolingual Irish speaker as he is speaking English. But there are still people alive and I know many, for whom English was a language learnt later in life. Sometimes in School or frequently after school for a lot of older speakers.
@Becs@Rubberbandits@MoataTamaira I'd say he is a native Irish speaker form whom English is a second language learnt much later in life. As opposedto younger generations of native Irish speakers who are bilingual in English from a much younger age, and use less Irish phonemes in their English
@caldamac@SpeakGaelic Ah similar to Na Blascaodaí here, a name that is likely of Norse origin somehow adopted for the island chain at the end of Corca Dhuibhne.
