It was funky fingers time in Reception today! We exercised our finger muscles by playing with pasta. We created wonderful pictures of trees by using glue to stick down the pasta and also threaded wool through the tubes of the pasta to create beautiful necklaces! @CarrdusSchool
It was a science investigation based forest school session today! We covered ice cubes with salt and discovered that it caused the ice cubes to melt! Afterwards, we added vinegar and bicarbonate of soda to the mixture- to make a fizzing foam! @CarrdusSchool
Reception have been very busy this morning combining our maths learning with some finger gym exercises! We cut out and ordered all of the Numberblocks to 10! We each talked about our favourite number- 7- he’s so bright and colourful! @CarrdusSchool
Reception had a lot of fun playing bingo this morning! We took turns being the “caller” and used the sounds we have learnt in our phonics lessons to help read out what was on each card. What a fun way to start a Friday! @CarrdusSchool
Today, Reception learnt all about the “ur” digraph in phonics. We practised saying it, writing it and then writing words that contained it. What a super effort! @CarrdusSchool
Reception has been investigating the number 6 today! We learnt how to count to 6, find 6 on a number line and how we can use Numicon to discover which two numbers, when added together, make 6! @CarrdusSchool
We can’t believe the first full week of term has come to an end already but it has been full of fun, learning and laughter! Oh and a dash of glue and a sprinkling of sequins of course! @CarrdusSchool
Reception have been working very hard today looking at how to find one more or one less of any given number. We have been using Numicon and number lines to help with our investigations! @CarrdusSchool
What a fantastic day celebrating “le nouvel An” we had in our French lesson! We shared a New Year’s Day cake. The youngest children had to stay under the table whilst it was cut! If you find a hidden bean in the cake- the winner gets a crown and is king for a day! @CarrdusSchool
Reception had another fantastic forest school session today! We made mud Christmas puddings, decorated pine cones and made the most wonderful wreath to decorate our classroom! @CarrdusSchool
Advent challenge 2! The Year 6 riddle asked us to to think about what we find up high that is sparkly and bright. We looked in lots of places and eventually found something shiny on the treehouse! It was a star! We are looking forward to tomorrow! @CarrdusYear6 @CarrdusSchool
Year 6 asked Reception to try and solve an advent riddle. It was... someone who sat on a throne, wore a crown and had fancy clothes. It was a king! And we found the king hiding in the playground! It was a lot of fun! What will tomorrow’s riddle be? @CarrdusSchool @CarrdusYear6
Reception and Nursery had a wonderful time making Christingles and sharing them with our friends across the school during a very special celebration assembly today. We learnt all about what they represent and their importance at this time of year. @CarrdusSchool @CarrdusNursery
Reception have had a fantastic day in the glorious woodland at Carrdus! We made dens and mud hedgehogs, used our noses to identify different scents in nature and went on a scavenger hunt as well! Oh, and found time for a warm hot chocolate and biscuit of course! @CarrdusSchool
We had a fantastic day today raising money for Children In Need. We decorated Pudsey bandanas, did some disco dancing and played stick the spot on Pudsey! We learnt why it is so important to help others who might need it. It was a fantastic way to end the week! @CarrdusSchool
We had another fantastic forest school session today! We got to take our teddy bears down to the forest and make them a lovely meal of porridge! We decorated bears with thick, oozy mud and made colourful bear headbands. Oh- and had hot chocolate and biscuits too! @CarrdusSchool
Reception were very excited today as we discovered shredded paper! We discovered lots of letter sounds hidden inside it and then realised it was quite like snow! So, we decided to have a bit of fun! It didn’t quite make snowballs but it was just as exciting! @CarrdusSchool
Reception were very keen to be involved with World Kindness Day. We spent some time talking about what it means to be a kind person and how we can be kind to others in school and at home. I think they had some wonderful ideas! @CarrdusSchool #WorldKindnessDay2021#KindnessDay
