After nearly two years, we are delighted that John Harris has finally managed to return to #Ghana following Covid travel restrictions.

A joint effort between the #thirdgeneration (Stan Cribb) and #fifthgeneration (Jack), in overseeing the delivery of the new T. Cribb & Sons #horsebox.

It has got many a journey ahead, taking our #horses across the country to look after loved ones.

On #EasterMonday we had the privilege of attending the #London HarnessHorseParade for the continued support and #welfareofhorses in harness.

Our handsome stallions trotted away with the #FirstClassAward2022, as well as three other medals to add to the collection.

Today marks the first day of #NationalPetMonth, and there’s no shortage of pets here!

The month is set to raise awareness about responsible pet ownership and is a time to celebrate all of the benefits pets bring to our lives.

This is part of the #MiningDisaster display at #TheNationalFuneralMuseum within our Beckton office.

We keep this display in memory of all those who passed in the disasters, and in respect to the families who lost loved ones during those times.

Mourning Cards were distributed after the funeral to mourners or sent to those who could not attend. They were often displayed in people's homes.

This beautiful collection were sent to mourn three children, all from the same family, between 1861-1871.

Our #objectoftheday is this Georgian mourning brooch, including a sentimental scene made from macerated hair and a mount set with seed pearls.

The inscription reads "In Memory of E Morley Esq Obt 23 April 1786 aet 44"

This is a pair of undertaker's truncheons, which were carried by pages as an accessory in higher priced funeral processions.

They were possibly first wielded to ward off body snatchers, however it's unlikely they were ever actually used as a weapon.

#onthisday in 1901 Queen Victoria passed away at Osbourne House aged 81.

These memorial cards were sold to commemorate the nation’s loss. The first was designed for children who, like many adults in 1901, had never known another monarch in their lifetime.

Today's #objectoftheday is this 19th Century Shell Cameo Brooch. The central piece is reversible, revealing hairwork on the other side.

Hair was a common material in Mourning Jewellery, woven into brooches and pendants to keep lost loved ones close by.
