Filming it and putting it online describing it as “guy gives soecial needs freind gift” is what is wrong. The act is great, filming it and putting it online with the focus on the disability is called “inspiration porn”.

When you do a nice thing for a friend, and you film it but label him “disabled” first instead of friend, and then put it online to show everyone how nice you are...you stopped being nice. Stop using disabled people to make you feel good about yourself. We are people not props.

I’m worn down by videos like this. I believe in valuing kindness & happiness. I also believe disabled people don’t exist just to make another person feel good about themselves. When people take a kind moment & make it viral, it’s no longer kind. It’s disingenuous & patronizing.
