I’ve really enjoyed this series of #Taskmaster after a few dodgy series over the last couple of years. Shows the importance of getting the right mix of people
@putthetellyon Gambo is a very knowledgeable man but he seems to have cut back his radio commitments recently. I also think if they shows are going to survive we have to accept younger people will end up hosting them.
@ian4downton@BBCRadio2 Derek Jameson had zero radio experience (by his own admission) and ended up successfully hosting breakfast for 5 years.
Joe Bloggs from Radio back of beyond isn’t going to appeal to the average Radio 2 listener
@ian4downton@BBCRadio2 Katie Boyle was a regular Radio 2 stand in and she started as a tv continuity announcer, Gerald Harper had his own show as he was an actor. There are plenty of examples if you look at BBC Genome, it’s not a new thing!
@JohnBensalhia Max Bygraves wasn’t very good as a quiz show host in my opinion. I read somewhere that in 1986 he tried to buy the rights from Central as he assumed they had axed it when in fact they had just decided to replace him as host
@MsPocketRocket It wasn’t very good, a few jokes basically every episode. Pat Coombs moaning they didn’t move to Bognor, both moaning about the heat and the food and how slow the Spanish are at doing anything.
@pennyslater1942@LikeATattoooooo Yes that would be a good idea as with the exception of Ronnie the Baileys are a bit lost. Maybe an auntie or Ed and Ronnie’s
