What most young players don’t realize, those playing AAA, junior & college is the National League is a free handbook on what to study and watch what players do. Teachers (coaches) and skills coaches can teach thru video and practice but watching the best league in the world pays dividends. Watch how guys problem solve & execute at the highest level. The game is numbers and colors. Put down the Fortnite, TikTok can wait. You wanna be a player? Watch the game. Study the game.

"Take care of your brother tonight. That's all I want you to do buddy. Be a good leader for him and your team."
Big Walt making sure Matthew Tkachuk understands his assignment tonight mid-warmies!
This is in the top 3 pics of my career. Can’t believe it’s been 11 years. Still regret missing those 2 shots. Good luck to #TeamUSA tonight against Canada at the #4Nations
That "skinny" girl lifting the bar recently gained 5lbs trying to overcome her eating disorder.
That skinny kid on the bench press is trying to get stronger because he’s tired of being bullied.
That young girl doing her workout wrong is new to the gym and struggling with addiction.
That angry looking buff guy just lost his job and has no idea how he is going to provide for his family.
That "overweight" girl wearing tight clothes has already lost 30lbs and is only just starting to feel confident.
That Mom lifting 5lbs has been dealing with postpartum depression and just making it to the gym is a huge win for her.
That guy sitting alone on the turf just lost his wife and his entire world is falling apart.
Everyone in the gym is fighting demons we know nothing about. Be kind always. 🙏🏼❤️
You want to know how big of a fraternity hockey is? Just go on Instagram and look at all the leaguewide player tributes to the Gaudreau brothers.
On an unimaginable day where the sport and a family has been gutted, it’s uplifting. The players are what makes the NHL so special.
As I sit here and try to process the loss of Johnny and Matty Gaudreau it seems unimaginable what the entire family is going through right now. When I think about Johnny Hockey it dates back to the early 2000’s when I saw this kid who might’ve been 4 feet tall standing on a phonebook and tipping the scale at a lean 39 lbs at the age of 10. We were both 1993 born products and at the time Johnny was playing for the Boston Iceman at least during the summers, a AAA allstar that would travel from tourney to tourney. It was in Toronto at the Ronald McDonald tournament featuring basically all the best teams in North America for each age group when I first saw JG. Our Bauer Select team ended up beating the Boston Iceman in the first game of round robin play 7-6. The kid who was almost two feet shorter than some of our players had 5 tucks and 1 apple in the losing effort. I remember thinking at that age who the hell is this? That was the beginning of the legend. Johnny barely tied his skates, he wore them like slippers while stickhandling in a phone booth all over the sheet dancing around as a true magician and showmen. Hockey looked so fun playing the way he did with so much grace and creativity. He then went onto play for the Philly Little Flyers and Dubuque Fighting Saints where we saw each other again and again. I remember thinking is this going to be the level he can’t play at? He’s too small right? And every level he went up he was better all the way to the show. One of my favorites to watch with an infectious smile and pure joy for the game. I only got to hang out with him in passing whether it was a USA select camp or World Junior camp but from afar he just seemed like that dude. The dude you want around creating the vibe. I’m heartbroken for his family, friends and everyone that was touched by him. Selfishly, I wish I could’ve told him he was one of my favorite players to ever do it. Stay dangling up there boys 😥💔❤️
RIP Johnny & Matty
I’ve never been a big golf fan, and I don’t know who Grayson Murray is, but this still stings.
Bros, call your bros often. Make sure they’re okay.
You don’t want the regret of not doing enough to hang over you.
Been there before. It’s not fun.
His stats in this series.
He scored four goals.
Oilers outshot VAN 70-28 when he was on the ice 5x5, outscored them 10-4, he played most min of any player in the series and led Oilers in 5x5 scoring with 7 pts.
Whatever rate he had going in, he lived up to or surpassed.
