🚨 True story that happened just now.

A young mother, visibly tired but glowing, walked in right after delivery. HIV-positive, just gave birth to a beautiful baby boy a few hours ago.

She handed me the PMTCT discharge note from the labour ward: “Nevirapine suspension 50 mg/5 ml – dispense 1.5 ml once daily × 6 weeks for the neonate.”

I smiled, congratulated her, and said: “Congratulations mama!
Your baby is here safely. Let me show you exactly how we protect him.”

She looked a bit anxious. First-time mum, first-time hearing “HIV-exposed infant.”

I brought out the small brown bottle of nevirapine suspension, shook it gently, and showed her:

⚠️ “This little 1.5 ml every day is like a shield for your baby’s immune system. It blocks any possible virus that might have crossed during delivery or early breastfeeding. Studies show it reduces transmission risk by over 50% when given correctly and on time.”

She nodded slowly. I could see the weight lifting a bit.

Then I did what pharmacists live for:

📌 Showed her how to give it, inside the cheek, baby can be feeding or not, doesn’t matter

THE TRUTH ABOUT THE 7.5% VAT ON TRANSFERS: STOP PANICKING!

If you’ve seen the news that a 7.5% VAT on mobile transfers and USSD transactions starts on January 19th, you might be worried that the government is about to "eat" your money.

The headlines are scaring people, but the math shouldn't. A lot of people are misinterpreting this directive. Let’s break it down simply so you can see the actual impact.

1. The Big Misconception
Many people think that if they send ₦100,000, the government will take 7.5% of that amount (which would be ₦7,500).
THIS IS 100% FALSE.

2. The Reality
The 7.5% VAT is NOT charged on the money you are sending (the principal). It is charged ONLY on the SERVICE FEE your bank or fintech (Moniepoint, OPay, Kuda, etc.) charges you.

3. Let’s Look At The Math
If you send ₦100,000 today:
• The Principal: ₦100,000 (Your money)
• The Bank Fee: ₦50.00 (What the bank charges for the service)
• The 7.5% VAT: ₦3.75 (This is the charge, 7.5% of the ₦50 fee)
• EMTL (Stamp Duty): ₦50.00 (The standard flat levy)
• TOTAL COST TO YOU: ₦100,103.75

4. What about USSD?
If you use a code like *737# or *919# and the session fee is ₦20:
• The 7.5% VAT on that fee is ₦1.50.
• Your total cost becomes ₦21.50.
It is a kobo-difference, not a life-changing amount.

5. Why Is This Happening? 🤔
The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) is simply ensuring that all digital services are fiscalized. Just like you pay VAT on a bottle of drink or a data plan, you are now paying VAT on the service of digital banking.

The Bottom Line:
Your savings are safe. Your capital isn't being slashed. This is a tax on the bank's commission, not your hard-earned wealth.

Don’t let misinformation cause unnecessary stress. There is a huge difference between a Tax on your Money and a Tax on a Service Fee.

After I made an open letter to @PeterObi about the dental student of UniCal, he tweeted about it and he has done far more than we can imagine!!!

@PeterObi has just given 20million naira to the Faculty of Dentistry in University of Calabar to help the 400 dental students who are being threatened with expulsion and withdrawal from university by the VC after the school deliberately over-admitted students.

Part of the accreditation problem that the school has been no money to buy the appropriate equipments to train the dental students. Now with this donation by @PeterObi , the university of Calabar is getting closer to resolving all their accreditation problems.

To give context to this passage, let us first look at Psalm 127:1

"If the LORD does not build the house, the work of the builders is useless"

This clearly states that your hard work is in vain unless it is blessed by the Lord.

Now we look at verse 2 which says

"It is useless to work so hard for a living, getting up early and going to bed late. For the LORD provides for those he loves, while they are asleep".

Having understood the context that comes before this passage, what this verse is clearly talking about is that peace and prosperity comes to those who trust in God and not in their own hardwork.

You may want to counter this and say, but we have wicked people who do not believe in God and they are also successful. Even Jeremiah in Jeremiah 12:1 asked this same question.

Psalm 73 also addressed this question and lets us know that the prosperity of the wicked is temporary, they may gain the whole world and still lose their soul.

Loving someone into loving you is basically convincing them to love you and I don’t believe in it. I’d rather we both want each other and make moves on it. I don’t see any sense in trying hard to make someone who doesn’t want you to want you. It’s an engineered feeling. It’s solicited and unnatural.
