@kyledupic Maybe a guy has an elite split that is going to carry a lot of the load, and he gets a ton of extension with good velocity. In that case I’m happy with anything of an IVB 15+ with moderate FB usage.
(1/3)The "Dead zone" Fastball is a FB offering from a LHP that has a spin direction of 10:30 and for a RHP it would be a 1:30 spin direction. This FB usually gets hit harder due to lower overall pitch movement and less room for separation between secondary pitches. You likely
@kyledupic When looking at a FB I always consider the secondary pitches and the usage we are targeting for the FB. Heavier usages require better stuff. I am looking to make the pitch an outlier statistically while complementing the pitchers best whiff pitch whatever that may be.
@kyledupic So if we are trying to leverage the splitter, I would typically chase FB IVB and VAA. Instead of just looking at the IVB number I want to see it in relation to velocity, release height and extension velocity of similar groups. I think it looks different for everyone.

Now it’s time to shift focus — we’re excited to guide our 2026, 2027, and 2028 grads through the baseball recruiting process.
We are here to help families navigate every step. Let’s get to work. 💼⚾
📣 RECRUITING REALITY CHECK 📣
Just because you’re playing in a showcase doesn’t mean you’re getting recruited.
College coaches don’t just wander around hoping to “discover” random players. They come with a list — a list of athletes they’ve already identified, researched, and want to see because those players reached out.
Here’s the truth ⬇️
🔥 Showcases give you the stage.
🎯 Strategy gets you the audience.
If you’re not emailing coaches ahead of time, sending your schedule, highlight video, and making sure you’re actually on their radar… you’re missing the point of a showcase.
✅ Build your list
✅ Make contact early
✅ Follow up
✅ Play your game
Don’t just play in front of coaches. Be one of the reasons they showed up.
The Transfer Portal Has Shifted the Power — Use It Wisely
The transfer portal has given players more leverage than ever before. But leverage only matters if you use it.
📌 The best way? Create options.
Just like college coaches need a deep list of recruits to evaluate, players need a strong pool of potential schools to choose from.
That’s how you build the best possible outcome for yourself — through multiple viable suitors, not one hope and a prayer.
🎯 Don’t wait around. Reach out. Follow up. Stay active. Your future isn’t found — it’s created.
