'It is vital that those with lived experience of the issues are listened to when making decisions that will affect people’s lives and livelihoods.'

We're pleased to announce that to mark the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty tomorrow, @ApleCollective, a national collective of individuals who experience poverty, will be taking over our Twitter channel at 9am. Please join them and follow along using #IDEP2020.
Tomorrow for #IDEP2020@ApleCollective, a collective of groups with experience of poverty across the country are coming together with a simple ask - to be heard and included in helping find solutions to poverty. But what does that look and feel like? 1/2

Another example of why it is so important to listen and act upon the insight from our communities. Child poverty is rising and this has a devastating impact on people, on families and on communities. Invest in children and invest in the future @ApleCollective@ThriveTeesside
@ThriveTeesside on @BBCTees breakfast starting the days events raising awareness of #IDEP2020@ApleCollective So important grassroots organisations unite, speak out and actively address the issues that keep people from realising their potential
We have a right to live not just survive, which is why today is all about sharing our experiences. We’re lighting up a UK map with things that people are doing to show solidarity for #IDEP2020. Let us know what you’re doing and we’ll add it to our map: https://t.co/w4nUMbFDH7
Let’s tell you a little more about APLE. We’ve existed since February 2018, where a number of groups led by people with direct experience of poverty were invited to meet up with the @Poverty2Sols Alliance https://t.co/xpO7CuG2SH
We want a voice, we want you to listen, we want to participate in making change together. We want to change relationships with power. Participation of people with lived experience of poverty is vital to making a more compassionate and just society.
We were supported by JRF to speak out about #UniversalCredit and gain national media coverage: https://t.co/I0PtaSD5YS We’re now ready to further develop, build on our learning and establish ourselves as the UK’s national collective of people with direct experience of poverty.
