Will Munetaka Murakami land a long-term contract extension to stay with the White Sox? Or will a team like the Dodgers swoop in when he hits the open market?
@soxmachine_josh says the White Sox must be proactive in keeping Murakami on the South Side.
So, if you’ve seen any tweets by Japanese White Sox fans, chances are you’ve run across this phrase, ほわほ (Howaho)
This is a variation of the thing Swallows fans say (I think the Softbank hawks were first in using a variation of this, but Japanese fans let me know know) after their wins, すわほ (Suwaho), which can be broken down by
すわ, Suwa, the first two syllables in the Japanese name for the team name Swallows, スワローズ
ほ, ho, an exclamation of joy, similar to saying "Woo!", "Yay!", or "Let's go!"
ほわ (Howa) are the first two syllables of White Sox in Japanese ホワイトソクス (Howaitosokusu), so ほわほ (Howaho) means "Woo! The White Sox won!"
