As I reflected on Ezekiel 37 today, I was reminded that God sees differently than we do. Where we see dry bones, He sees a future. Where we see endings, He sees restoration. Never let your circumstances have the final word. God still speaks life into hopeless places. 🔥

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase.” [Proverbs 3:5-9]
Beloved, these five short verses are a spiritual manifesto for the people of God in every age. They are medicine for the proud heart, a compass for the confused mind, and a promise for the fearful soul. We naturally lean on our intellect, our experience, our feelings, our politics, our bank accounts. God says, “Stop propping yourself up with created things; fall completely on Me.” Partial trust is disguised distrust. If you’re still clutching your backup plan while you pray, you haven’t trusted; you’ve hedged your bets.
We are commanded to acknowledge the Lord in every aspect of our lives, and when we do this God promises to make our path straight, but straight doesn’t always mean easy or quick. Straight means we will not face dead ends of self will or detours of disobedience. Look at the path God showed Moses, he parted the Red Sea and crossed, this was no easy thing, to wander the desert, to be hunted by the pharaoh’s army, but not once did Moses doubt in the path God was taking him on, and neither should we.
Brothers and sisters, the world is screaming at us to trust ourselves: “Follow your heart. Be authentic. You do you.” The path to life is the exact opposite: distrust yourself, trust God with everything, acknowledge Him in every detail of your life, and watch Him direct your steps with healing, peace, and overflowing joy.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart.”
May that be the anthem of our lives until we see Him face to face.
Amen.
“For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. And he asked him, What is thy name ? And he answered, saying, my name is Legion: for we are many. And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country. Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. And all the devils besought him, saying, send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and were chocked in the sea.” [Mark 5:8-13]
This is one of the most dramatic exorcisms in scripture. Imagine this, a boat lands on the banks of Galilee, the sun barely up and the first thing the apostles see is a naked man running towards them, chains dangling as if he is a prisoner of hell. This is no ordinary day but a collision of the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of light.
The man recognises Jesus and falls to his knees, now look at the verse, Jesus commands “Come out of the man”, he is not negotiating or asking. This man is not simply occupied, but possessed by a multitude of demonic. Yet one sentence from the Son of God and the entire regiment of hell must obey, one sentence is enough. Brothers and sisters, what ever is tormenting you, whether it is addiction, despair, lust, greed, bitterness or fear, remember this, Jesus who spoke to legion now speaks to your chaos. Jesus is alive, his authority has not diminished, the throne is still occupied, and at his his name every knee shall bow, in heaven, earth and hell.
If we look at the part where the demons beg Jesus to cast them into the pigs, Our Lord and Saviour grants them this request even though he has the power to cast them out into the abyss, why ? Because Jesus is not only sovereign but he is merciful, even to the agents of evil.
If Jesus would hear and grant the pleas of the demonic, he will surely not turn a deaf ear to the cries of a sinner. The same Holy Ruler who permitted the evil to enter the swine, permitted the nails to pierce his hands so that you and I could be set free forever.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.” [Galatians 5:22-26]
The fruits of the Holy Spirit are the fruits of Faith. When we are faithful and true, these things come naturally, for all these things, all the fruits of the faith are what Jesus preached, it is what God intended for his people.
When we give ourselves to Christ, when we make God the centre of our lives we will be filled with the Holy Spirit, but in order for this to happen we must cast aside our desires, for the fruit of the flesh leads us to sin, for the flesh desires that which destroys the soul. And while we must allow God to work in our lives we must also put in the work ourselves, we must want to push aside the wants of the flesh, if we do not put in the work we will not overcome the desires.
When we are filled with the Holy Spirit our fruits of faith will show, we will be filled with unselfish care for others, we will be satisfied with the joy we get from trusting God, we will have peace even in difficult times, we will have patience when patience would otherwise be impossible, we will have compassion for others even when they show no compassion towards us, we will be able to control the temptations of the flesh and the worldly pleasures, but most importantly, we will have full faith in Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
“Then spake Haggai the Lord’s messenger in the Lord’s message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the Lord.” [Haggai 1:13]
Throughout the Old Testament and the New Testament we receive constant assurance from the prophets, whom God used as his messengers and Jesus Christ our Saviour, that the Lord is with us. When we go through difficult times we can take comfort in knowing that while we might feel alone, we are not.
We do not always know what a person is going through, and when we do, we cannot always comprehend their feelings, thus we cannot provide comfort. While we can be there for someone and try our best to provide comfort, it doesn’t always work, especially if we have not gone through the same thing.
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: by whom also we have access by faith into his grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience, and patience, experience, and experience, Hope: and hope maketh not ashamed, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is giving unto us.” [Romans 5:1-5]
Sometimes we feel lost with what we go through, sometimes we find it too difficult and we give up, we stop fighting and replace faith with earthly comforts, giving in to temptation. While this is easier, God commands us to fight, when we struggle with grief, illness, financial and spiritual difficulties, we must fight and stand strong, for God is always at our side and tribulations only make us stronger, and through faith we will overcome.
A prayer:
Heavenly Father, creator of all life and source of all healing, we come before you today with hearts full of concern for those who are in pain, distress and transition. We lift up all those who are suffering from illness, both in body and mind. Grant them your healing grace so that they may feel your presence. We pray for all those who are facing difficulties, guide them with your wisdom and grant them the strength to overcome so they may see your light in their darkest hour. We commend to your eternal care those who have recently left this earthly life. Welcome them into your loving embrace and grant them eternal peace.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers, we ask this in your holy and loving name.
Amen
“Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee, and before thou comest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and i ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” [Jeremiah 1:4-5]
God made all of us, and when he created us he knew what our names would be, the choices we would make, as well as the sins we would commit.
Although God knows these things, he still gives us free will, but do not think that because God knows our sins even before we are born that it gives us a free pass to sin, do not think “but God knew I would sin so I am already forgiven.” This is not how it works, one must still build a relationship with God and repent for their sins.
Now besides sin, God created all of us in his image, meaning we are as we are meant to be, perfect and without flaws.
Sometimes we are unhappy with how we look or our personality traits, and we judge ourselves harshly for it, but we can not judge what God made and what he made perfectly in his image. We must accept ourselves and others as we are, for we are perfect and unique, for we are the children of God.
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” [Ephesians 2:10]
“For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: It is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast.” [Ephesians 2:8-9]
Salvation is the gift we receive from God when we trust and have faith in him, and while this gift is given when we have faith, we must remember that while actions do not justify our faith, it is through faith that we justify our works.
Now this might seem confusing at first, but faith without works are hollow.
Let me explain, when a person does bad things, commits sinful deeds and does not repent, is faith enough to receive salvation? When we go against the teachings of Jesus and the word of God, you can not claim to be faithful, while no one is without sin, if you purposely commit these acts, how can you expect to be saved. While it is impossible for us to live in accordance to scripture, we try, we try to help others, we try to be respectful, kind and forgiving, and when we can not, when these virtues are not with us, we ask forgiveness. And these good deeds we do can be justified by referring to scripture and the teachings of Jesus Christ, for faith and good deeds walk hand in hand, because when you do good, you follow the example set by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
“What good is it my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but does not have works? Surely that faith cannot save, can it? If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food and one of you says to them: Go in peace, keep warm and eat your fill, and yet you do not supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that? So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead.” [James 2:14-17]
“I, Ezra, saw on mount zion a great multitude that I could not number, and they all were praising the Lord with songs. In their midst was a young man of great stature, taller than any of the others, and at the head of each of them he placed a crown, but he was more exalted than they. And I was held spellbound. Then I asked an angel: Who are these, my lord? He answered and said to me: These are they who have put off mortal clothing and have put on the immortal and have confessed the name of God. Now they are being crowned and receive palms. Then I said to the angel: Who is that young man who is placing crowns on them and putting palms in their hands? He answered and said to me: He is the son of God, whom they confessed in the world. So I began to praise those who had stood valiantly for the name of the Lord.” [2 Esdras 2:42-47, the apocrypha]
Now for those who are unsure, the books of the apocrypha are deuterocanonical, meaning they are in a sense separate from the old and new Testament. Because of this, many denominations exclude these books completely, yet they are still scripture. They are written in a time between the old and New Testament. These books contain both biblical and non-biblical accounts.
Now Ezra was a prophet of God, who had lead a group of Israelites out from Babylon back to Jerusalem, he also had visions. One such vision was where he saw the son of God, Jesus Christ. Alongside this, he saw the Son crowning those who profess his name. This shows that even before the birth of our Lord and Saviour, that God has promised to send his son so that we may be granted eternal life.
While many other prophets of the Old Testament had visions of the coming messiah, they were somewhat cryptic, but the vision of Ezra was clear, our saviour is the Son of God.
Besides this vision of our Lord, Ezra also had seven visions of the end times, separated by a unique theme for each. From divine wrath to eternal life with the Father and the Son. While visions were not out of the ordinary for God’s prophets, what makes the visions of Ezra stand out is that they are clear and detailed, and came one after the other.
Before the birth of Christ, God had shown the coming of the messiah to some of his prophets, but he showed Ezra that he will send his son and by faithfully following Christ we will be saved and granted eternal life.
“It shall be that whoever remains after all that I have foretold to you shall be saved and see my salvation and the end of my world. And they shall see those who were taken up, who from their birth have not tasted death, and the heart of the earth’s inhabitants shall be changed and converted to a different spirit. For evil shall be blotted out, and deceit shall be quenched, faithfulness shall flourish, and corruption shall be overcome, and the truth, which has been so long without fruit, shall be revealed.” [2 Esdras 6:25-28, the apocrypha]
“All this have I spoken before thee, O Lord, because thou madest the world for our sakes. As for the other people, which also come from Adam, thou hast said that they are nothing, but be like unto spittle: and hast likened the abundance of them unto a drop that falleth from a vessel. And now, O Lord, behold, these heathen, which have ever been reputed as nothing, have began to be lords over us, and to devour us.” [2 Esdras 6:55-57, the apocrypha]
Why is it that we allow the world to mock us, our religion and our Lord and Saviour ? The bible says that the earth was made for us, God’s chosen people, and while we preach love and tolerance, we must understand that if we do not draw a line, that it will be our downfall.
Now do not get me wrong, we must love and respect all, but not at the cost of the divinity of our Lord. We can not allow those who are sinful, that refuse to change their ways, to be welcomed into our loving embrace. We, as children of God, can not, and must not tolerate the things that the word of God prohibits. It has become all to common to allow these people to insult us, and more importantly they insult God. Those who claim to be prophets have lead the flock of Jesus astray, they indoctrinate they youth to believe that some sins are acceptable, sexual immorality and abortions are preached as being a right, being acceptable in church while being a sin. The meaning of Holy Communion has been nullified, made more figurative, the sacred right of baptism has lost its meaning because it is not done biblically.
If we do not stand and fight, then who will. If we do not protect our faith, then who will. Our battle against evil is both physical and spiritual, and we must not back down, we must not make peace with evil. We as the children of God must be steadfast.
“Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” [Matthew 5:7-9]
“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.” [Genesis 1:1-5]
Now this shows us that even before God created man and woman, he created the opportunity for us to wake up to a new day and new opportunities. This is a blessing as everyday you wake up brings new blessing, but not everyday is a good one, all the struggles one faces throughout the day is obstacles God put on your path to make you stronger, to test your faith, but by God’s grace you will wake up and try again
If it is his will for you to succeed then so it shall be for God has a plan and purpose for everyone, even if you do not see it you must remain faithful to God
Have a blessed week ahead and go with God 🙏
Today marks a historical moment… going against scripture, going against the word of God himself, the #ChurchOfEngland has elected a woman as archbishop. Truly this is a mockery to our Lord and Saviour. I will pray for the souls of those involved for they shall be judged with all the might of God.
“A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent” (1 Timothy 2:11-12).
Genesis 1:26 talks about the creation of man, Adam to be specific, but as we all know he got lonely and so while he was sleeping, God took one of his ribs, filled it with flesh and created a woman and her name was Eve.
Now God used Adams rib specifically because he created man and woman as equals, not for one to rule over the other.
Further on we reach Genesis 3, here we are introduced to temptation, the snake. God told Adam and Eve that they may eat from evey fruit bearing tree except for the central apple tree as the fruit was forbidden. As Eve was wandering the garden she stumbled upon a talking snake, who convinced her to eat the apple of the forbidden tree, and so she dit, as well as Adam.
This is a testament to faith, it shows how easily we can be manipulated to sin, as even those directly sculpted by God was not able to resist temptation. We all know the snake was the Devil incarnated, and like the devil tempted Eve into sin, so does he temped us to this day.
Temptation is different for everyone as it is directed towards what you as an individual desires, for some it might be big houses and for others expensive jewellery, but this on its own is not necessarily a sin but the length to which one will go to obtain these things, some lie and cheat while others will kill
Temptation does not stop at materialistic things, some can be tempted by alcohol or women/men, and these things can lead to sin
Wherever one looks temptation can be seen but whether you give into it or not is up to you. Temptation is not God’s way of testing your faith but rather the devil trying to lead you to sin, but you must remain strong and by God’s grace, overcome temptation.
Have a blessed week further and go with God 🙏
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, he is my refuge and my fortress: my God, in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terrors by night, nor for the arrow that flieth by day, nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness, nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand, but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most high, thy habitation, there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him high because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.” [Psalm 91]
God promises protection as long as we trust in him, now this does not mean immunity from hardship, this does not mean immunity from temptation. We are not perfect, we are sinful by nature, but this does not disqualify us from receiving God’s divine protection, but for this we must do our part as well, we must honour God, we must trust God and we must fight, fight temptation and fight our sinful nature.
We must dwell in the presence of God and be committed and consistent with our relationship with the Lord, and when we do this we will be protected and have support from God and the angels against both physical and spiritual enemies.
“Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me. Deliver me from workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men. For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty gathered against me, not for my transgressions, nor for my sin, O Lord. They run and prepare themselves without my fault: awake to help me, and behold. Thou therefore, O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathen: be not merciful to any wicked transgressors.” [Psalm 51:1-5]
“If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth. But if we say we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his sone cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us . If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” [1 John 1:6-9]
When we realise that in order to have a dedicated relationship with our Lord and Saviour, then we must admit to being sinful, and although this might seem hard, it is necessary to accept the full grace of God. When you realise that your sins hold weight, then it becomes less appealing to commit the sin. You must confess your sins to God and ask forgiveness, but not only this, you must talk to each other, talk to each other regarding your sins.
“Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up, and if he have committed sin, they shall be forgiven. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” [James 5:14-16]
When you confess your sins to one another it not only lightens the burden you carry, but allows others to pray for you and this in turn can work miracles. But confessing to one another does not grant forgiveness for your sins, for only the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit can absolve you of your sins, but a righteous man or the head of the church can mediate for you, but this is only because God works through them.
“Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be upon you, as my father hath send me, even so send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them, and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.” [John 20:21-23]
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” [Matthew 6:33]
Sometimes we feel lost, for some it can be mentally, others spiritually and sometimes both. We might feel that God neglects us or our prayers but this is not the case. God has his own timing and you receive exactly what you need when you need it, and sometimes you get not what you ask for because it is not what you need or not apart of the path, good or bad.
Many pray when they need or want something but they trust not in God’s process, they have not fully committed themselves to God, and if they get what they ask for they proceed to neglect their relationship with our Lord and Saviour. Many people think that they are owed something but forget that they have been gifted another day.
With each new day comes new challenges, and with each new day comes blessings, sometimes we do not even see or acknowledge these blessings. Perhaps it is hard for us to see how God provides for us on a daily basis or the things that are done for us, but if you believe wholeheartedly and truthfully that the Lord will provide then by his grace, he will provide.
“Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies, thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life : and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever” [Psalm 23:5-6]
“Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crow of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God can not be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth sin, and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” [James 1:12-15]
What is the difference between a trial and temptation? Many think that God tempts us in order to test us and our faith, but this is not the case. A trial is directly from and permitted by God to allow spiritual growth, while temptation comes from inside, it stems from our own desires, and if we do not resist this evil then it leads to sin. Many blame temptation on God, but God will not do something that might cause you to sin. When we do not fight against temptation, then we allow it to grow, and the more it grows, the easier it becomes to give in to the temptation, the easier it becomes to commit sin. Everytime we give in to temptation, it leads us closer to spiritual death!
But when we fight, when we resist temptation, when we endure difficult times through faithfulness in God, then will you be saved. When we overcome the evil inside us, and remain steadfast in our faith, and we do not doubt in God’s power, then you will be rewarded with the crown of life, eternal life with God.
Most of us experience God’s word when we go to church, through a preacher/pastor who has “studied” scripture. How often have you heard a verse with no context of the chapter, I guarantee more often than not. The point I’m trying to make is this : In today’s society, preachers “nitpick” a verse to talk about certain topics.
They preach “you must donate to be present in the house of God” that “faith alone suffices and good works mean nothing”. Today’s preachers change scripture to fit their or their church’s narratives, they try to make worship easier and more relaxed.
These same preachers claim to be the heralds of God, making statements that God speaks to them or through them, all while preaching falsehood. “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves” [Matthew 7:15]
These are the same preachers who tell their congregation to donate each time they are in church “for the betterment of others”, but this is a lie, they use these funds to live lavish lives. Expensive cars, mansions and trips across the world. “For us true Christians, we do not peddle the word of God for profit, but as of sincerity, but as from God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ” [2 Corinthians 2:17]
Most people are so easily manipulated and follow blindly. We must take it unto ourselves to spread the word of God, to ensure that you lead people to a shepherd, a shepherd of hope, of courage and of truth, but most importantly… A shepherd of God
