I’ve had several bags of beanie babies I’ve been holding onto for the last 25+ years. This week in Cybersecurity class, most of them found new homes with my students who played a Linux Game. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams got to choose first. And then the runners up. Great fun!

By popular demand, we played The Network Game in Cybersecurity class today at John Champe High School. Two tables were routers and the others were end-points. The objective was to write a message, break it into packets and send it across the network. We had a fun time!

Today in Cybersecurity Operations, we are starting a new project to build a model of the Internet right here in room 1513. Should be fun!

In Cybersecurity Operations class today, we had a couple options: Set up a PC with a router or set up a router by itself. The routers were all used — purchased from The Restore in Reston. Some had directions, some didn’t. Good thing there’s Google!

Today in Cybersecurity we started a team project called Make and Break. Today’s task was to make a new cipher and key and encrypt a phrase. Next class the kids will try to break the other teams’ codes. Great engagement from all three blocks today. I think they had fun to boot!

Today in Cybersecurity class we did some network data collection around the school. Our objective was to find the MAC address for each room we are in during the school day and to measure how far its signal extends outside the room. An in-school field trip of sorts!
