Liverpool still in control of the title race. Good players, good manager, good strength in depth. But they need to silence the growing noise around the three contract situations, which should never have been allowed to rumble on so long. If Virgil van Dijk is close to signing, get it done, get him what he wants, get it announced, get the focus back to the football. Mo Salah, if possible, get that signed, sealed and celebrated, too. It would be uplifting news for players, staff and supporters. A timely tonic. It would be financially beneficial to FSG to have great players staying on, taking Liverpool towards money-spinning trophies and even more commercial opportunities. Gold from silverware. Makes dollars and sense.

Van Dijk and Salah playing well despite the headlines. But against Manchester United Trent Alexander-Arnold looked affected by all the noises off. Very good player but clarity about his future – staying or going – would help all parties. And then everyone can focus fully on what matters most - bringing home a 20th title, equalling United’s record. #LFC
