Based on EPA/drive, the Cowboys had the worst defensive performance by any team in Week 1.
It was worse than all but one of their defensive games last year.
Among 574 games since the start of last season, it ranked 571st.

Drops and a poorly thrown ball are partially to blame. I do not believe the offense will be an issue and our tackles - the biggest area of concern coming out of camp - played well enough to win this game. We need to be better across the board but D and penalties costed us tonight
Dart is much better than Wilson, but this feels eerily similar to when the giants played @ Arlington last year and we made Russ look like he turned back the clock and was a pro bowler
I don’t want to dunk on Malachi, but taking him over R Mason Thomas/trading back and acquiring assets will never not make sense to me (I know he didn’t play many snaps, but I feel R Mason could’ve provided a pressure or 2 tonight)
The strategy of FG block, ball back to the offense, score, and attempt onsides would’ve worked just as well as what happened in the 2nd half. Hindsight’s 20/20, but that ~5 to ~7% chance of repeat possessions and only allowing the giants half a field to chew clock felt non-insane
Final score isn't remotely indicative of what a swirlie this was. Pretty masterful gameplan by Matt Nagy & John Harbaugh, and a really, really impressive night from Jaxson Dart.
Dallas touched the ball twice after halftime, such was the Cowboys' inability to get a stop.
I want to believe in optimism, but the scheming felt awfully lot like the previous DC. We looked good when there was a back against the wall need to have it play calling and Durant looked good with a Downs sighting, DTs both showed up, but truth is: we have no consistent pressure
Cowboys defense looked a little bit better to be honest. Pass rush was blah, we did see some plays on the ball. But Cowboys D couldn’t get off the field when it was needed.
Fitting the night ends on a penalty, this is a sloppy, poorly disciplined team. Schotty, I hope you rip them a new one. Excited for the postgame. Hope the media goes at em like hungry hyenas
Wow… I wonder if bringing pressure, playing man/forcing close window throws, and not sitting back in zone will lead to a harder executable giants gameplan and MAYBE JUST MAYBE a stop??
I want to give the giants their due flowers, but this has been an all time terrible defensive gameplan/execution, bullying, and too many offensive what-ifs. Way to play tonight Giants and if we can somehow take this, I will be more shocked than seeing my grandma naked
