Using the underlying data from Stats SA, I've set up an Index to track the price change of a Braaibroodjie.

I've used approximate weights to allocate a percentage weight to all the underlying ingredients you would use.

Going back to 2017, the price of a braaibroodjie peaked in May 2023, it has since eased a bit.

- Over the last month (the month of October), prices increased by +2.2%
- The last 12 months prices rose by +8.0%
- The last 3 years prices rose by 37.8% (11.3% per annum)
- The last 5 years prices rose by 62.5% (10.2% per annum)

Ingredients used: white bread, cheddar, margarine, tomatoes, onions, salt and chutney (!).
