Since the orthotics course last weekend, I feel I have been much more thorough with foot/ankle analysis and understanding the effects up the chain #ItsAllConnected
Patient presents with a 10 year history of low back pain with radiating symptoms, but is committed to maintaining an active lifestyle to the point of weekly flare ups. Goal is to keep her active while not overdoing it!
Patient presents with LBP secondary to facet dysfunction with pain in terminal stance of gait. Gait analysis with long strides shows decreased hip extension with excessive compensatory pelvic rotation. Used standing hip extension MWM in split stance and decreased symptoms by 25%!
Patient presents for 2nd PT visit following lumbar fusion reporting significant improvements in pain. Sometimes active listening, education, and some gentle muscle activation goes a long way! #MotionIsLotion
65 year old male presents six weeks s/p meniscal repair with 10 year history of diabetic neuropathy with reports of wanting to be on American Ninja Warrior. Safety awareness and education is key to decrease fall risk and make sure he doesn’t do too much!
42 y.o. female presents with 10 year hx of central low back pain that feels like “somebody lit a match in my back”. Pain is constant at rest, but increases with AROM. Spent the first session on diaphragmatic breathing and pain science education. Left/right discrimination next!
Pt is a 24 year old male that presents with posterior shoulder pain when swimming breastroke. Patient showed increased anterior humeral translation with pain at 90/90 position, and pain resolved with posterior glide. Posterior impingement is likely!
Patient presents with pain at 130 degrees of shoulder flexion, as well as excessive thoracic kyphosis and scapular protraction/anterior tilt. Quick T/S manip and patient is able to achieve 130 degrees without pain! Must follow up with neuro re-ed to optimize mechanics
27 y/o male s/p ACL reconstruction presents with increased knee valgus upon initiation of SL squatting with UE assist. Patient able to perform with optimal mechanics following manual and verbal cueing. Likely just due to motor control!
CV exercise is a MUST for central vestibular patients (stroke, concussion, etc.)! "As little as 15 minutes of CV ex...may help accelerate the recovery of motor skills in stroke patients or those who experience mobility problems following an injury." #rehab https://t.co/wb68hFHrN0
“Low plastic stool, cheap but delicious noodles, cold Hanoi beer.” This is how I’ll remember Tony. He taught us about food — but more importantly, about its ability to bring us together. To make us a little less afraid of the unknown. We’ll miss him.
This is a cool picture, Mickey Mantle and Yankees team Physician Sydney Gaynor. Likely a torn ACL. Reportedly played 17 seasons without an ACL since there were no good reconstruction options then #sportsmedicinehistory
Deep in the jungles of Belize, a sacred site rests underground—an incredible window into the ancient Maya world for those daring enough to explore it. https://t.co/zmHSr2ajO6
The perennial cry to “Save Earth" is odd. Planet Earth survives massive asteroid strikes -- it'll survive anything we throw at it. But Life on Earth will not.
