A surprising survey reveals just how strong the bond between men and their barbers can be.
According to a 2023 survey conducted by Capital Hair and Beauty, 75% of men say they feel more loyal to their barber than to their romantic partner. Nearly seven million British men admitted they would feel guiltier about switching barbers than about cheating in a relationship.
The survey also found that many men maintain long-term relationships with their barber, some for years or even decades, often traveling significant distances to stay with the same person. In contrast, only 15% of women reported the same level of loyalty to their hairstylist.
Experts suggest this strong loyalty stems from the simple, consistent, and low-pressure nature of the barber-client relationship. Unlike romantic partnerships, which involve emotional complexity, the barber dynamic is built on routine, trust, and familiarity.
