Middle aged Canadian trying to deal with my dysphoria while being supportive of women's rights and gay rights. Supportive of other gender nonconforming people.
@BluffKingHal@STILLTish depends on the person. There are definitely some who go way overboard assuming any openly feminine man is "AGP" and disrespectful to women
@DJennings2012@therealmrbench@TheMenzoid This is just wrong on a few levels. Adults shouldn't be competing against children even if they were the same sex. WTF is wrong with Canada?
Patriarchy isn't just some sort of ambiguous presence that harms everyone, but inexplicably affects women more; it is an actual system of material exploitation whose purpose is the reification of women as property. Male privilege is birthright entitlement to status and labor.
and if you try to point this out to them they will act like you're saying they can't be a man without being "toxic" It just shows men like this have never even unpacked what society expects of them
@Etreides most aspects of gender expression are completely made up and vary widely from culture to culture. Surely if you say you're non-binary you'd understand that?
@thefempire50 doesn't exist because there is no essence to being human. It would be different for every human being even if we could somehow pinpoint it.
We can't know how he felt but the other side of this is that if Cobain did have issues with dysphoria and had been public about it many modern gender conservatives would immediately start calling him AGP and pervert and assuming the worst about him.
Gender ideology makes everything boring. These people saw pictures of Kurt Cobain wearing dresses and went off speculating if he was trans. They are the ones obsessed with conformity, not the other way around.
@saltyposaune@Michael_AW77 the reality is take any random group of males in society and a small percentage of them but a percentage none the less will be dangerous predators. These things are very different based on sex. Do you dispute that?
@CjgbVictoria fair enough I agree. I am against transitioning children but I think for adults it should be treated like any other medical treatment. Inform the patient of the risks in a non-sugarcoated way and make it clear it doesn't actually "change sex"
WPATH is not impartial
Sorry but I support bodily autonomy for adults. We shouldn't be infanitilizing strangers and deciding what treatments they are allowed to a seek based on mental health or other groups the belong to.
Who's against any sex trait modification for
Kids
Vulnerable women
Lesbians
Aspies
Anyone ND
Trauma survivors
Vulnerable men
Gay men
Bisexuals
Anyone with a mental health issue
Mature and older Men with paraphilias except possibly Lupron
Anyone who doesn't feel like Barbie/Ken?
@Dormiyusaur I think the completely cultural deterministic approach is wrong as many males do not embrace that but I still think you need to answer that question before you can develop a good policy on things like prisons or DV shelters
If you wonder why " radical transgenderism" is winning in Canada it's because this kind of MRA anti-feminist reactionary nonsense is the only alternative offered to it. Our political system is fucked.
I’m really sorry for young Canadian men who are facing this situation today.
More young women than men now attend university and are being brainwashed with woke nonsense by communist professors.
Young women have been told for decades by radical feminists that they should not depend on a man in any way, that traditional relationships with a husband as a provider for them and their children is demeaning, and that the government will take care of them instead.
The result is that a huge proportion of young women nowadays live alone, don’t want children, don’t even want a stable relationship, vote for far left parties, and support bigger government.
The left wanted to destroy the traditional family, which was always a bulwark against socialism. They’ve succeeded.
And now the left is saying we need mass immigration because young people don’t have children anymore, but that’s because it’s too expensive to buy a house and start and family… which is a result of mass immigration.
Destroy the family and you destroy the economy, the society, the culture, you destroy personal relationships and love itself, you destroy everything.
@Dormiyusaur there certainly is anecdotal evidence in Canada. I wish they'd do a proper study of it but they won't. The question that is unanswered is why are people born male statistically more violent? Is it some identification with our maleness or something else?
@Dormiyusaur I just worry that bad actors are going to take advantage of self-ID. I think people who genuinely want to transition should be able to but there needs to be some gatekeeping in a few areas. My thoughts are evolving on it I don't know, it's tricky to me
@Dormiyusaur Sorry I was trying to differentiate things like universal self ID from simply having a space for trans people to live their lives and not be discriminated against (which I fully support). Perhaps it wasn't well phrased.
@No7Sammy I'm just frustrated lately. I feel like more and more the GC side leaves no space for trans identities to be expressed. I think we can surely work out the legitimate safety concerns we all have. Most ppl aren't bad actors here
@No7Sammy They argue that women are safer when people who are born male can't easily enter women's spaces (especially things like prisons or DV shelters).. Do you really think it's better if it's just all an honour system where we trust those who self-id to behave themselves?
